We should get more credit for what we do. We get the carries fed. We ward. We dive turrets. We do all the handy work and all we get is an assist.

They basically nerfed supports when they lowered the assist gold.
Being a support main is not about the attention you get. If you want attention, you should play Mid. Mid seems to be the Quarterback/Striker/Slugger equivalent of the game in terms of the "respect" it gets. When you play a support, you do so to help the team win. Which admittedly can be really challenging at lower elo's like the one I am in haha. But I enjoy it. You might win lane and lose game, you might have 30+ assists and only hear "look how many kills I got" but in the end if you did your job properly and efficiently to help secure a win you should feel good about that on your own. Sometimes you wont perform well, sometimes other wont perform well, but if you take a bit of pride in your work then you wont need attention to assure yourself. I found that out about this game a while ago, still working on finding my own flaws and other mental problems that hold me back. The climb is longer for some.

idk, I've mained support since s2 and people always compliment my sick plays. Master raka or alistar or nami or something. Really, anyone. And get to at least silver or so where people are actually paying attention to their teammates a little bit.
