Reading through the patch notes I noticed that other then RIP Vi..that which looks like a kill nerf, that tank junglers are about to be the new meta. Looks like nautilus is about to be god teir perhaps maybe even voli. the new juggernaut looks tailor made for naut/voli/sej/amu the staple tanks. Thoughts?

I probably should have added Sion.

except, the changes don't really help tanks early with their first clear. They'll still lose to an invade from the bruiser/duelist junglers. And the changes barely make any noticible difference in clear speeds. Overall, this will only make the strong tanks stronger, and the weaker tanks only slightly less weak.

I really like this new patch. Props to Riot.

I wanted to give a couple votes. While I think every tank jungler will be benefited by the new item (and if it is too strong, then yes, they will be the dominant picks again), the tanks that are going to benefit MOST, I think, will be Sejuani, Zac, and Nautilus. Volibear also, maybe. My reasoning for this is that they all scale in some way with HP: Zac returns more HP from bloblets (and gets larger), Sej's W deals more AOE damage, Nautilus's shield gets bigger, and Volibear's W gets pretty fucking strong (30% of his bonus health. 30% of a PURE TANK's bonus health, on an enemy, and that's not even the full damage of the ability).

The reason I downgrade Voli from the other three is simple: he doesn't have a strong gapcloser. His Q is very easily kited. Naut's anchor is hard engage, Sej's E is hard engage, Zac's E is hard engage.

I think Sejuani in particular is going to be incredible, because her W is going to give amazing teamfight damage AOE with just a couple items (rush a warmogs, go for the gold).

Now tank junglers won't fall behind because of bad clears, but like someone has already said, the new item doesn't really do much for the REAL weakness of tank junglers; their first clears. They can get counter jungled pretty hard and fall behind because their first clears are simply awful. Although, this might be to insure that there is a clear weakness, providing counter play. With that said, Metas usually revolve around what is strong and their counters. For example, back in early season 4, because tanks were strong in the top lane Trundle became meta because he did well against them, and then lulu came with the rise of the mage top lanes because they did so well against top tanks, then bruisers like Jax and Irelia became popular because they can gap close and deal with these squishy mages easily (Jax was truly OP though). Although counter picks aren't the only factor in what becomes meta, they are one of the main factors. With this in mind, do you really think that tank junglers would counter what is strong right now? Because while they got this new item, any of the strong junglers atm can easily invade them. Why (and here's the real problem)? Bruisers are better front liners than tanks. They are more versatile, have better clears, are strong at all points of the game, have more build paths, and instead of soaking damage and waiting for teammates to kill a target, they can take damage and kill targets themselves! Remember what I said about dynamic build paths? What if some bruisers just built the new tank item and got a bit of damage after? They would still do damage early and would be able to kill the tank junglers during first clear 1v1 because they would still be stronger early, so why not? However, even if they don't build the new item, champions like J4, Nidalee (nidalee is the only one that isn't a front liner), VI, Rek' sai, and Lee Sin (a good lee sin) are all good in the early game and still have a strong impact later in the game. So why pick a tank jungler, even with the new item? Especially in 5v5s ranked or lcs, where teams are likely to close out games based on early advantages; tank Junglers are obsolete because bruiser junglers exist. Not because of items, or the jungle monsters being strong, simply because there are champs that can do their job and more. Maybe this new jungle item will remove tanks from the game; the sunfire passive is a step in the right direction to making sure that tanks can do damage AND tank. But here's the issue: Didn't they nerf Elise because she was able to do damage while being tanky? And the same to Evelynn (among other ners, like turning her ult into a slow instead of a stun)? I think that even if we DID see a rise in tank junglers they would just get nerfed to the ground again unless they are all turned into bruisers.

Volibear, his W change is meh-ish but with the Cinderhulk change and RIGHTEOUS GLORY it's gonna be all about dat bear.

NinjaStingRay3/9/2015, 11:25:30 PM1 votes

Volibear is already amazing (don't know why more don't play him), and with that buff in his W, his ganks and damage output along with farm will allow him to be one of the top three junglers

sejuani will be banned every game in higher levels, in 5.4 she is pulling down a 55% win-rate and the item/jungle changes buff her significantly.

Sirsir3/10/2015, 3:19:56 PM1 votes

Volibear is gonna benefit most I think, but that doesn't mean he will be the strongest. Naut 2nd place.

I'm curious why there are so many votes for Sej, what am I missing?

RogueWill3/10/2015, 3:28:53 PM1 votes

Vi won't come down from the top tier because of that nerf.

Ark Angel HFB3/10/2015, 6:59:00 PM1 votes

What people don't get is that sej has no problem clearing right now...

These changes are a nerf to her, but a buff to other tank junglers...

Ark Angel HFB3/10/2015, 7:55:54 PM1 votes

See that is the thing... no...

her W also scales with HER max hp...

AND she already clears the aoe camps in the blink of an eye...

So all this did was make her early/mid game worse... not but a massive amount mind you, but for sure by a good bit.

In return her latemid/late game gets a small potential buff if she builds high HP builds...

Also consider that since the item give no tenacity... she is now force'd into the more expensive merc treds over other boots... but this is true for all tank junglers now.

This could also make her snowball from early success much harder though, so that needs to be looked out for.
