Now tank junglers won't fall behind because of bad clears, but like someone has already said, the new item doesn't really do much for the REAL weakness of tank junglers; their first clears. They can get counter jungled pretty hard and fall behind because their first clears are simply awful. Although, this might be to insure that there is a clear weakness, providing counter play. With that said, Metas usually revolve around what is strong and their counters. For example, back in early season 4, because tanks were strong in the top lane Trundle became meta because he did well against them, and then lulu came with the rise of the mage top lanes because they did so well against top tanks, then bruisers like Jax and Irelia became popular because they can gap close and deal with these squishy mages easily (Jax was truly OP though). Although counter picks aren't the only factor in what becomes meta, they are one of the main factors. With this in mind, do you really think that tank junglers would counter what is strong right now? Because while they got this new item, any of the strong junglers atm can easily invade them. Why (and here's the real problem)? Bruisers are better front liners than tanks. They are more versatile, have better clears, are strong at all points of the game, have more build paths, and instead of soaking damage and waiting for teammates to kill a target, they can take damage and kill targets themselves! Remember what I said about dynamic build paths? What if some bruisers just built the new tank item and got a bit of damage after? They would still do damage early and would be able to kill the tank junglers during first clear 1v1 because they would still be stronger early, so why not? However, even if they don't build the new item, champions like J4, Nidalee (nidalee is the only one that isn't a front liner), VI, Rek' sai, and Lee Sin (a good lee sin) are all good in the early game and still have a strong impact later in the game. So why pick a tank jungler, even with the new item? Especially in 5v5s ranked or lcs, where teams are likely to close out games based on early advantages; tank Junglers are obsolete because bruiser junglers exist. Not because of items, or the jungle monsters being strong, simply because there are champs that can do their job and more. Maybe this new jungle item will remove tanks from the game; the sunfire passive is a step in the right direction to making sure that tanks can do damage AND tank. But here's the issue: Didn't they nerf Elise because she was able to do damage while being tanky? And the same to Evelynn (among other ners, like turning her ult into a slow instead of a stun)? I think that even if we DID see a rise in tank junglers they would just get nerfed to the ground again unless they are all turned into bruisers.
