Buying Champion Mastery is Ridiculous

Having to wait such a long time to get my blue essences for champ mastery, having to decide which one I want to buy first, and having the entire process depend on whether I get a champion or skin shard, is absurd. If I play the champion often enough and well enough I shouldn't have to wait an additional 3 months to be able to show people an accolade. I don't post on forums ever (pretty sure this is my first post), but this is a stupid practice. I just don't understand having a system that shows off a player's experience w/ a champion, but making the badge depend on a scarce supply of blue essence
