Does mmr always start so low when you enter a new division?

So. I was in top of b5 ( i know its trash but chill). So i get into bronze 4 and i only get 10 lp per game. However when i lose, i lose 23 lp. so i win 2 games and lose 1 and im back down to 0 lp. This cycle continues for about 5 times, but then i lose 2 games in a row and i get demoted. Now i know its low elo, but that just seems unfair. win 2 to counter 1 loss. But if you lose 2 then you get demoted.....

if your winning 2 and losing one then thats not enough to climb, you need to be winning consistenly, 3-4 wins for every lose.

You never compared your bronze 5 lp gain to your b4 gain so I can't be sure, but last season I was hitting in the 20-23 lp gain and when I was going from stuff like S4-S3 I had no lower amount of lp, maybe a small bit, but that was only from people being better at the game (only slightly)
