My First Ranked Match Alone

So, here's my story...

I, an unranked player with about 55 normal wins decided to try out a ranked match with a skilled player, and although we lost, it was still a good game where the opposing team was simply more experienced, despite being mostly bronze players. So, today i decided to go experience ranked alone... yeah... well done me. i checked the ranks of my teammates and opponents. it was as follows:

My team:

  • gold 5 (7LP)
  • silver 3 (100LP
  • unranked (0 LP)
  • silver 3 (100LP)
  • silver 1 (0LP)

Opposing team:

  • Silver 2 (58LP)
  • Silver 2 (60LP
  • Silver 3 (13LP)
  • Silver 2 (43LP)
  • gold 5 (29LP)

[zombie-brand-clap]

I happen to be playing thresh in this game, and i also happen to be in the same lane as the gold 5, and we were up against the 2 silver 2's. What followed was a long and painful attempt to not die while suffering 250ms, and get shat on by my teammate. You can only imagine the fun I had trying not to mess up, but i did, and when I did, the gold 5 didn't hide his negativity towards me. The game only got worse for us when one of our players disconnected, so that took some attention away from me. Honestly, I never felt so lost in a game where i played support. My score at the end was 0/10/4. A nice D+... worst score I ever got with thresh.

Now, i understand that not all games go as planned, or sometimes you are just having a bad game, but against these odds... how is there a chance for me to even think of competing when going up against such overwhelming odds, and playing with players that play on such a high level that they are almost guaranteed to label me as a liability? I am trying to improve myself as a player, and trying to find out if i belong in bronze, but it's almost as if the game just says: "nope, you don't belong in gold or silver, therefore no rank." Yay me...

Hopefully the next few games will go better, but i doubt it. ~~~~

Here is my advice. Don't do ranked until you have atleast 100 games on a champion played in normals. This way you get familiar with everything about the champion, and know your power spikes, and when you can trade. Even if it is just thresh, he is a lot harder than people think he is.

people have to start somewhere. since you have such a clean slate your first 50 games are going to be like this. You just have learn from it as best as you can
