Just got a poll asking me about my experience this week...
Well, let me tell you: this week has been bad.
To offer some perspective, the account in question is Bronze I, struggling to get to Silver V. I have two accounts and I've played both in solo/duo and flex. In every case, I've climbed to Silver in under 100 games, but this one account and queue looks like it's going to take over 200 games. It's like this every season, of course. Randomly one account just takes more than twice as many games to climb. I can't say I'm happy about it, but that's how it is.
As I've been examining the situation again this year, it seems that in Bronze III everyone I was playing had about 15-40 games on their champion, but in Bronze I almost every game there are players with one or no games on their champions. Looking at a Bronze III game, you could basically judge how players would perform in game with fair accuracy, but in Bronze I, it's all over the place.
And then, of course, there is the chat, which has been horrible this week as well. Not only is every lost game filled with some idiot calling for reports on someone, but games I win have also been bad. There is just a general negativity. I managed to find 1 or 2 players worth giving honor to and a whole bunch worth reporting and then a whole bunch more that were negative but just not worth reporting. I mean who says you have to have a stellar personality of loving kindness or we ban you, right?
And, of course there are the trolls. I'm not talking about players who play off META. This week, I was perfectly happy to play a game with a Lucian mid and an Orianna bot. I love that stuff. I'm talking about the Lee Sin who started off in champ select saying, "Flame me and I troll", then played like he was going in on plays but really was playing AFK and then blamed top and mid for "INTing". And spammed that shit in chat like he was entitled. Or the Teemo that sat AFK in a shroom field under a tower in a lane that was pushed towards the enemy waiting to surprise someone... and then typing in chat that he doesn't know how to play support and doesn't own any support champions as if that were the issue...
And it's been painful to have a bunch of games we should be able to just close out and win come up as losses because players just don't understand macro. I'm talking about games where they will let a Maokai split push multiple towers and backdoor the Nexus (it wasn't a base race). Or games where the Kog'Maw has free access to push down a tower in bot lane but backs off and tells his team not to "go alone" when it's five players top lane tower diving a Darius.
It's been a special week and while it may seem like I'm just venting, it's also really just par for the course. I don't expect any change. Angry players are going to vent in chat and call for reports on anything that gets their goat. Trolls are going to do their shit because they think it's funny and want to figure out what they can get away with and not get banned. Players aren't going to suddenly understand macro play. I don't think RIOT has something in mind that is going to alter the state of things. RIOT has done things that have helped the situation and they deserve abundant praise for the good work they've done in that regard, but some problems don't appear to have good solutions.
TL;DR But hey, I got a poll asking how I felt my week in LoL was :D It's all business as usual friends, all business as usual, nothing to see here, move along, move along.
