Season 5 Placement Matches

I won 9 of my 10 placement matches but am only in Silver 5. I ended in Silver 3 last season and am unsure how I won 9 out of 10 and am a lower rank. Can someone enlighten me on how this happened???

You almost always get placed lower than your previous season's rank but can be given a higher MMR than where you placed so you climb faster.
