How placment works

I have alweys wondered how placment matches work. I just had mine and got placed in bronze 5. This pissed me off because i went 5/5 in placment matches. 7/6/9 shyv and 8/3/15 riven and so on. But I lost 5 matches. (Two to bug splat). But in season 4 I went 2/8 in my placments and got silver. Jesus Christ what the f*@k. I think I just popped a forehead vain
