i won 8 out of my 10 placement games and ended up in BRONZE V.. i was unranked last season, what was the point of me winning a single game if i didnt even move to bronze IV or higher? I might as well have lost all my placement matches and would be still where i am right now in BRONZE V
Looking at your match history, I can kinda see why you were placed low.

I don't know why people downvote instead of actually helping, people are %%%%s tbh. I think it was because you had low mmr or something last season - might be wrong doe
While you didn't play ranked last season, you had during Season 3 and Season 4. From the looks of it, you were Bronze in both of those seasons too.
Not playing ranked for a season doesn't reset your MMR.
Considering most players are getting placed about one tier lower than they ended the last season MMR-wise, this isn't really a surprise.
I had about Platinum 2 MMR before the reset (with Platinum 5 as the official rank) and I was placed into Gold 2 after going 6/4 in placements. That is pretty much exactly one tier lower than I previously was.
Your MMR still increased with those wins. So you will be getting more LP when you win than when you lose. That means you will climb even if you have 50% win rate, probably for a few divisions more.
It takes your previous MMR into account when calculating your new one.
While you may have been unranked last season, you most certainly were Bronze V the seasons before that.
