i won 8 out of my 10 placement games and ended up in BRONZE V.. i was unranked last season, what was the point of me winning a single game if i didnt even move to bronze IV or higher? I might as well have lost all my placement matches and would be still where i am right now in BRONZE V

Veruka2 votesThat is not true at all. Last season I placed in silver playing support. This season I placed B1 playing jg and support. It is not based entirely off of KDA, but your KDA is important. Also, for your KDA, assists are just as good as kills. Example - Someone who is 10/7/3 did NOT do as well as someone who is 1/5/20.
I mean, look.. he played almost exclusively support - and not once did he buy a sweeper?

From what ive seen by googling it/browsing other threads, Kda has no impact at all, it's a win-loss system, not a performance system.
Veruka2 votesIt is most definitely a performance system. I watched 2 people duo their placements last season. 1 placed G3, the other placed G2. Same games. Same win/loss. Both were new accounts. You cannot tell me their performance didn't have anything to do with their placing at different tiers.

It's based off of your previous ranked mmr and normal mmr (if you are fresh level 30)

KDA appears to be involved, as well as your ability to cs, your asists and objectives. i intentionally threw 3 games because i honestly felt like the people i was in game with sincerely didn't deserve the win. mind you, i did say INTENTIONALLY... i still ranked silver.

Kda is involved in oh if my team is 30/0 and they are 0/30 then obviously we win, it doesn't effect Lp gain/loss or placements

well... what ever you think buddy. just going off my own personal experience and what i view probably put me into the bracket i was in given the circumstances previously mentioned. just because you have 1 game of 30 / 0 - 0 / 30 doesn't mean you are consistent... and that's probably going to be you best bet is your ability to be consistent.

Pretty sure he asked "what was the point of me winning a single game if i didnt even move to bronze IV or higher?", i lost like 7-8/10 and got silver 4 (or 5 idk) last season, help him, don't just come to the comments to be a dick, since you obviously had no intentions of helping

If he really wants help, he won't come to the boards complaining about his rank. He would come to the boards asking the best way to climb.
If you're curious, he should start with something like "Well, I just finished my placements and I am at Bronze V. I would like to know what I could do to help make rank. Any suggestions/tips?"
I'm not being a dick. I just cannot stand people who think it's the system that's screwing them instead of taking a look at what improvements they could make.
EndlessSorcerer1 votesWhile you didn't play ranked last season, you had during Season 3 and Season 4. From the looks of it, you were Bronze in both of those seasons too.
Not playing ranked for a season doesn't reset your MMR.
Considering most players are getting placed about one tier lower than they ended the last season MMR-wise, this isn't really a surprise.
I had about Platinum 2 MMR before the reset (with Platinum 5 as the official rank) and I was placed into Gold 2 after going 6/4 in placements. That is pretty much exactly one tier lower than I previously was.

Dealth1 votesYour MMR still increased with those wins. So you will be getting more LP when you win than when you lose. That means you will climb even if you have 50% win rate, probably for a few divisions more.

Dealth1 votesIt does not matter what role you play, your MMR is determined by your win/loss count. Since you are 8-2, you have high MMR. The system will give you more LP per win to "catch up" with your MMR.

While you may have been unranked last season, you most certainly were Bronze V the seasons before that.
