League of Legends Ranked Game System

I personally think that Riot needs to take a look at the lower Elo players and figured out a fair way to help us get from Bronze into Silver, or higher. I honestly get stuck with people who throw the game, and typically don't know how to play their champions very well. I know this will come with every tier, but I think it's more prone in Bronze. I feel as though I potentially play as a Gold player, but I'm stuck in Bronze because there isn't much teamwork. Again, I know this will happen in other tiers, but I'm just doomed with the way the ranking system is setup right now.

I hope Riot can fix this.

If they helped all the bronze players get to silver... then who would be bronze? There will ALWAYS be a bottom percent, that's how ladders work.

I agree with both sides on this. It's not easy to change the system to help the "better" players without also helping the "worse" players. I also agree that in the lower ELO bunch, it's more often that you find players that don't care, have poor skills or poor teamwork. This game isn't too forgiving if you have someone feeding the other team. I can't think of an easy way to solve that problem.

However.

There is a situation that can be changed.

I have a suggestion for the DC (disconnected players/quitters) situation which definitely happens more often in lower ELO's. Currently, all players lose the same LP for losing a game regardless of whether or not there was a DC player or not. The remaining players who stay and fight, should not be penalized equally to the DC'd player. Likewise, if the disadvantaged team manages to win, the DC'd player should not benefit from the win equally either.

4 v 5 is tough, the DC'd champ/role is also a factor of whether it's possible to execute a win. In my experience 3 v 5 is basically impossible, not saying it's never happened where the 3 person team won, but that's some serious luck and skill on one side, and the other team has to play particularly poor and make really really bad decisions for a long stretch.

I had the misfortune of having 5 games in a row with at least one DC'd player on my team. Maybe server issues, but I didn't get Loss Prevented. I lost an entire rank and a half and I was doing the best I could to try to make up for a missing player, being double teamed constantly, them having an extra player to roam and free farm without any challenge.

The Main Problem You lose the same LP no matter how "well" you did during that disadvantaged match! You might have dragged it out to 50 mins and barely lost, too bad, you're gonna lose the same LP.

I think that it should be fairly easy to tell whether the player "tried" to log back in (DC wasn't on purpose). Either way, the DC'd player should suffer more than the rest of the team (lose more LP, and the remaining players less LP). This will discourage people from doing this behavior. Likewise, LP gains from winning the disadvantaged situation should be higher, bonus LP for handling it like a pro.

Of course, the timing of the DC, etc. should be factored. If someone DC's 1 minute before a nexus destroy obviously this should change nothing. But if the DC or multiple DC's happen early game, it should definitely be a stronger factor. So, both penalties and benefits scale with time in game.
