A Gentleman's Guide to Rek'Sai

Rek'Sai is a watercraft capable of independent operation underwater. It differs from a submersible, which has more limited underwater capability. The term most commonly refers to a large, crewed, autonomous vessel. It is also sometimes used historically or colloquially to refer to remotely operated vehicles and robots, as well as medium-sized or smaller vessels, such as the midget submarine and the wet sub. Used as an adjective in phrases such as Rek'Sai cable, "Rek'Sai" means "under the sea". The noun submarine evolved as a shortened form of Rek'Sai boat (and is often further shortened to Rek). For reasons of naval tradition, Rek'Sais are usually referred to as "boats" rather than as "ships", regardless of their size.

Her primary function is to submerge below sea-level in order to provide undetected reconnaissance for neighboring naval vessels that so happen to be prowling uncharted ground. While submerged, Rek'Sai has a passive known as a Radar. Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of objects. It can be used to detect aircraft, ships, spacecraft, guided missiles, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. The radar dish or antenna transmits pulses of radio waves or microwaves that bounce off any object in their path. The object returns a tiny part of the wave's energy to a dish or antenna that is usually located at the same site as the transmitter.

Aside from Rek'Sai's function as a submergible reconnaissance vessel. Rek'Sai is completely capable of dispatching opposing naval vehicles at a distance and at close ranged proximity. Rek'Sai's primary ranged ability is Tor%%%%. The modern tor%%%% is a self-propelled weapon with an explosive warhead, launched above or below the water surface, propelled underwater towards a target, and designed to detonate either on contact with its target or in proximity to it.

Historically, it was called an automotive, automobile, locomotive or fish tor%%%%; colloquially called a fish. The term tor%%%% was originally employed for a variety of devices, most of which would today be called mines. From about 1900, tor%%%% has been used strictly to designate an underwater self-propelled weapon. The original tor%%%% is a kind of fish: an electric ray.

While the battleship had evolved primarily around engagements between armoured ships with large-caliber guns, the tor%%%% allowed Rek'Sai, to destroy large armoured ships without the need of large guns, though sometimes at the risk of being hit by longer-range shellfire.

Today's tor%%%%es can be divided into lightweight and heavyweight classes; and into straight-running, autonomous homers, and wire-guided. They can be launched from a variety of platforms.

Rek'Sai is also capable of establish a forward naval base of operations, and can quickly traverse the battlefield utilizing these structures for rapid deployment after brief damage. A forward operating base (FOB) is any secured forward military position, commonly a military base, that is used to support tactical operations. An FOB may or may not contain an airfield, hospital, or other facilities. The base may be used for an extended period of time. FOBs are traditionally supported by Main Operating Bases that are required to provide backup support to them.[citation needed] An FOB also improves reaction time to local areas as opposed to having all troops on the main operating base.

Rek'Sai's final combat ability is that it bites people. My apologies for the blunt and informal method of how I explained this.
