Build CDR boots while building it depending on what gold you get if you can get a quick rod by forgoing cdr boots
then do it but getting the boots is the safest bet

After you build Rod you have many options -
- if you are getting bursted down by fed apc or multiple ap threats
- if you are losing to an ad threat or enemy team has an even remotely dangerous zed/talon
- if you find yourself doing more fighting than poking or assasinating
- enemy team is already getting mr items on top of an Aegis because of you and/or a fed ap on your team
If these don't seem to solve your particular problem alone then go ahead and complete them.

I 100% agree that this item is good on nidalee unfortunately its outclassed usually by other items

Sadly if you aren't really fed and you reach late game you will end up replacing your jungle item for
and I highly recommend working into your build somehow if you go even later
if you haven't already built it (do not replace lich bane)
