a little confused about the new ranking system

I just wanted to know how the ranking system works. I saw that it was going to be a little bit harder to move up thought the ranks. So I used all of my best champions to win 7 out of 10 game for the starting rankings to be ranked sliver 5, but the thing is that I was sliver 3 before the new season. I knew that there will be some what of a reset to the rankings. I just didn't think I would start off a lot worse than were I left off tho. I thought I would move up to sliver 2 at worse if i won most of my games
