Support Main and Proud!
I started in season 2 or 3, but in late season 4 I got so tired of fighting for my position in the pregame. I made the decision to main support, and I haven't gone back. Literally, 95+ percent of the time I get my main. It's awesome and I love it! However, I feel I must risk converting you all into maining support in order to get RIOT's attention. I now have thousands of games in support, and I have played almost all viable champions in that position.
That being said, ever since the introduction of the trinkets, supports have taken a big hit. I miss my oracle elixir and several of the items that made supports better supports. I had no problem taking heat from my team if I did not ward enough. These trinkets although cool and interesting are more in line with an advanced level of play where all team members strive to be a part of the warding process. It seems pretty clear to me that sub-platinum at least, RIOT has devastated the vision on the board because no one wards even if they have a trinket.
Obviously, this makes no sense, but it is the reality that I have faced. I personally consider other people's warding efforts to be a bonus. I never expect much support in the vision fight from my team mates. They too, seem to think that it is still one of my primary functions, and that is fine with me. But, I am only capable of having so many wards at any given point in time.
These changes that have been made since I started playing have detrimentally effected the overall playability and diversity of the support position. I am not certain how to change with the times in order to be on top of my game as a support main. I think RIOT caved to pressure from a bunch of whiners who got stuck playing support and did not respect the role. Granted, you might not get a bunch of kills, but I regularly am a part of more kills then any other member of my team. This math is determined by adding one's kills and assists and then determining what percentage of the team's killing efforts you took part in.
