Server Split?

Now that the server is being moved to Chicago after many complaints from East coast player and other who are farther away from the current location in Portland, what would happen if Riot keeps the Portland server open to create a server split to avoid complaints from both East and now West Coast players over an unfair location of the server or ping issues.

What would be the outcome of a NA server split creating East and West server similar to EU,share thoughts below.

This has been discussed dozens of times on reddit and this boards already, but here's the problem with that in a nutshell:

NA doesn't have enough players to support 2 separate servers. NA has 1.5m players, EUNE alone has 1.1m, and EUW has something like 2.3m.
Most of the population lives on the East, so splitting into NAW and NAE means NAW would have a really low player count (looking at population distribution, maybe 500 thousand players) while the rest are on the East.
Talent will funnel into NAW, so while NAE has way more casual players, all top level players will be on NAW because talent breeds and attracts more talent. If all LCS players are on NAW, then all challenger and amateur team players will be on NAW, with all regular challenger and master tier players following, etc. etc. This problem can be seen in EUW and EUNE, where EUW is known as the competitive server and EUNE is seen as mediocre and if you want to go pro you pretty much have to transfer to EUW.
