I just finished a stretch of awful games. (It gets bad when your queue partner starts flaming you for being useless ).

So in celebration of miserable defeat, why not share our war stories? Tell an upsetting moment in your games and lets all share a laugh at the misery we used to have: be it dumb plays, feeding Riven like the Red Cross, failing to hit Zhonya's after a slick combo and dying, or other tales.

Worst game ever? Guy looks up our mid, bans their best champ 'because they sounded cocky' Then goes jungle ww (despite me being jungler..) ..so I go top.. Then he sits top and literally ks's me (like, I nearly kill enemy laner alone, he flash/q's them when they have 30hp and I'm mid AA animation) Twice.

Then he goes 2/30/0 by running down whichever lane actually has somewhat of an advantage, while reporting all our movements in /all Also it was in my promos.

Yep, that one took the cake..

I decided to play a three ranked games on Saturday (after not bothering for about a month) since I was in the mood for it.

The first game had an intent feeder, all three of them had bottom lane feeding (with the ADC raging/trolling) and the mid-laners were toxic from 7 minutes into the game.

Needless to say, I'm probably not going to play ranked again for another month (solely to prevent decay).

Another set of games was after my Graphics Driver had been updated and it was causing League of Legends to crash after champions spawned. On both occasions, I had to redownload and reinstall the driver update before I could reconnect which would generally take 20 minutes.

While I crashed in two successive games, I didn't seem to crash in the custom or bot games I created between them to test for crashes.

Anyways, I was Vladimir in both games and my team managed to hold out in a 4v5 until I got back (and in one case was winning and just couldn't close out the game).

When I got back, I just purchased Rylai's Crystal Scepter and Ionian Boots and ran off to splitpush a wave and get some levels. After I drew an enemy champion over to stop me (at which point I would just back off and waste their time), my team would win the 4v4 fight and we would win the game.

Yeah, that really sucks. I wish League had a better community. Sure there are lots of players who are nice and stuff, but it's almost like a natural law that once a week we all have to get a toxic player on our team (usually when it matters most). I hope future games go better for you. :)

I'd honestly recommend just climbing to Gold. Players in that ELO (in my experience) were far more positive players and decently skilled.

If it helps, I found that most Silver games devolved into an ARAM where both teams would group around a random objective and stand off against one another for a few minutes until someone got caught out.

I'd recommend champions with great poke/waveclear (to stall pushes and to poke the enemy down before a fight) and/or AoE CC (to engage/disengage fights).

Some good options would include: Varus Lux {{ch Malphite Sion Swain Ziggs Gragas Hecarim Kennen Veigar Zac Zyra

I used to play Malphite top myself and took a quick look at a couple of your recent games. Feel free to ignore this advice, but try to take it under consideration.

I would recommend starting Corrupting Potion rather than Doran's Ring. It provides similar damage during trades and better sustain.

I would probably recommend adjusting your rune-page slightly. I would recommend something along the lines of:

Armor Quints
Scaling Health Seals
Flat/Scaling MR or Scaling CDR Glyphs
Attack Speed Marks

Attack Speed marks let you deal more damage during longer trades (due to your W). AD Marks are useful for last-hitting, but they get outscaled pretty quickly.

Scaling Health Seals are useful due to how many non-health items work well with Malphite's kit. While Frozen Heart/Iceborn Gaunts, Abyssal Scepter and Thornmail are all great pick-ups, purchasing the three of them can leave you a little low on health during the mid-game.

Against melee-matchups, I would recommend being conservative with your Q due to its high mana cost. Generally, you are better of saving your mana for E and W when trading and rarely using Q.

Against champions like Jax or Irelia (melee and autoattack-reliant, I would recommend the following skill order:

EWEQER, R>E>W>Q

Good luck with climbing.

Would you still take the Grasp of the Undying Keystone? I've seen other malphites take Thunderlords or Strength of the Ages. I see limited use of those outside niche play-styles.

The reason I take Ring first is for the mana regen. At my level of games, the enemy top laner just afk pushes the lane if it's in the middle of lane. I can freeze it outside my tower most times. I then use this position to poke them whenever they come up for cs, using either my Q, E, or AA.

Given that Q cost is so high, the regen helps immensely. It also enables me to stay in lane longer to build advantages. However, I could try corrupting potion.

What type of match-ups should I be looking out for? I am getting more confident in top lane as him, but I know not to be overzealous with my abilities. Ekko has given me a few problems. I don't see top lane adc's anymore.

Lastly, what times would you recommend picking malphite? I am spamming him right now, yet I know that won't last forever. Do you have any other picks I should work on as well in case malphite doesn't work in the team/is banned?

I have picked up Jayce this season and enjoy him. I don't play any Illaoi, Darius, or Ekko.

Grasp of the Undying is definitely a good option and Strength of the Ages is fairly standard for tank junglers. Thunderlord's Decree isn't bad (and Malphite does like Precision), but unless you are playing AP Malphite there are better options available.

While I'm not sure how viable it is, I used to have fun with Fervor of Battle when I knew I could/would be engaging in longer fights against my opponent. The combination of Attack Speed marks, Fervor of Battle, Sunfire Cape, W on-hit damage and E's attack speed slow made it very difficult to opponents to win a sustained duel against me.

Both options are good. I prefer Corrupting Potion for sustain and damage throughout the game (and to save on potions), but Doran's Ring is definitely workable.

I don't really mind the cost of Q since I tend to avoid using it. I only really use Malphite as a counter-pick, so I just take him into melee AD opponents. I generally just trade using E and W, saving Q for when my ally is ganking, I need to escape or I can chase down a kill.

Generally, you want to lane against autoattack-reliant physical-damage champions. This is especially true against champions who want to snowball early-game since you can play passively and deny that.

Malphite is generally a good pick into the following champions (though by no means are they the only ones): Jax Irelia Rengar Tryndamere Pantheon Nasus Yasuo

This is especially true if the enemy team has an AD mid-laner and/or jungler or the enemy team is weak to hard-engage. He can easily survive ganks if both opponents deal physical damage and his ultimate fantastic for forcing fights or picking off targets.

If you are looking for another top-lane tank, I would probably recommend Sion or Maokai. Alternatively, you could try Irelia if you want a more assassin-like top laner.

Eh, I've already reached my goal for this season in ranked (which was basically maintain my position in Platinum).

Considering how toxic this ELO generally is, it isn't really worth the frustration to bother trying to climb through. Aside from a brief spurt from Plat 5 to Plat 4, I've only really been playing to prevent decay for a few months anyways.

I'm just taking the opportunity to really sort out my champion pool in normal games and get some practice in for jungle, top and mid-lane.

Though, considering I haven't seen autofill not enabled for the past few weeks (and with the upcoming release of Star Guardian Lulu), I will be getting some practice in as support too.

When my teammates look at my score, something like 0/11/6, and flame me for feeding. Despite me dying while leading the enemy away so they could all live. Happens too often.

Worst experience was when everything started out fine. Team comp (while I can't recall it) was decent (some weird summoner spells though), nobody was pissed off in champ select or trolled. Perfect... Then our midlaner and jungler started getting into an argument. Wasn't even about one of them being bad, iirc it was them arguing over who was carrying the team... Eventually we started throwing our leads because they refused to help each other to prove who was carrying more and the frustration in our top laner began to come out as a result. We were still pretty close in the game somehow. At one point I pinged caution to my ADC, because the enemy was respawning, who then told me to shut up (they died), at which point I realized that everyone on my team was tilted.

We threw pretty much everything away after breaking their base, but somehow we still won the game because our ADC had TP (remember those weird sums) and we had a few minions still in their base. After the game I sat there contemplating and wondering why and how we won that game despite the fact that there was no way in hell we should've based on how our teamwork was going. Everyone was at each others throats and pissed off for practically no reason, it was crazy... That was the last game I played that night.

Oh god, don't remind me of that one time period where the death timers were increased. It was way too stressful. Any death felt like you lost the game because the snowball was so quick. The first team fight usually decided the game because survivors could get three towers and inhib immediately.

played a game as Kog'Maw jungle (its actually op) and our team had some advantages in lane, but then my computer crashed and so I had to wait to get back on. Then as I get on, mid was shoved to our inhib, top was losing, and bot was dying. I tried my best as a Kog'Maw to carry but I was behind in farm and even though we started coming together, we were just outclassed in every aspect because of items. We lost but fortunately no one reported me for afk. Still feels bad that we could have won it. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

I know that experience all too well. When starting out in League, I played on wireless connection and without a mouse (track pad all the way to level 27). I had terrible issues that caused me to always be the last to load into a game, if not disconnect at all. After multiple times of issues, I was banned from League for a week. :( Worst part was my friends were starting to play a lot that week, so all I could do was watch them play and have fun.

I still have a sympathetic side of me in games when people say they are having connection issues. But people use it as an excuse way too often.

Only two games in and you face Riven. I feel for you. My second game was probably against Zed as Veigar. I remember frantically trying to get my call down to hit him as he would ult and killed me hundreds of times. Little did I know back then besides screaming and frustration.

I quit ranked after 14 games in a row with intentional feeders or afks on my team. Went from silver 2 to silver 4 and never went back to ranked, it's just meaningless and not worth getting invested in.

This definently isn't the worst game I've had but it's a recent game that I found rather humorous. Our jungler locks in Gragas. Enemy team locks in an Olaf. I guess the Olaf is going jungle and lock in Riven since it's a normal game and I want to practice Riven. Our Gragas starts non stop raging me in chat because I picked Riven after the enemy team picked Olaf. Last enemy pick is singed so I was right it's Olaf jungle and Singed top.

Game starts and the Gragas continues to flame me in all chat telling the enemy team to camp my lane because he wasn't going to help me at all. Anytime I died the Gragas would spam ping my death timer and rage at me some more. He even started asking the enemy team to report me for "AFK at fountain" when I was in lane farming.

To this day I have no idea what made him tilt so hard in a normal game. It was so bad even the enemy team started defending me. Shrug.

Strangely that's how a lot of my normal games with plat and low diamond players are. Conversely, gold players are extremely humble and enjoyable to play with most of the time.

I keep hearing that. I guess Gold is the place to be. People there are content, knowing they are pretty good at the game but aren't the best. My goal for this season....just need to finish a journey longer than Frodo's to get there from silver 5. :(

Some of my worst games comes from people bullying me onto a champion I don't want to play. Honestly, I'm a huge pushover. I play support and I almost always solo queue. Sometimes, I'll get an ADC who tells me what to play. And sometimes, it's someone I'm good with. Most of the time, it's not. I'm not good at melee tanks unless it's Leona. But my ADC will insist on me playing Thresh or Braum and I'll cave because I don't want them to flame me for not picking who they say. However, I warn them that my best champs are mage supports (I love Lulu). But then I get flamed all game by the team because I missed hooks or I'm not that great with the mechanics of a champion that I bought to try but didn't like.

Lately, I've been trying to be more forceful in choosing my champion and not letting someone else decide for me.
