Hard v.s. Soft resets and the problems

Ok, personally I'd love a hard reset. Because right now I'm bronze 5 and could probably be at least silver 3 or 4. Which to most doesn't sound like a huge change but for me (and the rest of this niche group) that'd change a lot. To escape Bronze you can't just be better than Bronze. You'd have to be better than Bronze by a significant amount (like at least silver 2 and on. AT LEAST.) But I'm not. And Bronze as a skill level doesn't offer enough challenge to progress you to the skill level to exit it. So, in my case, a hard reset would actually place me and everyone else in this situation in a correct skill level and actually allow them to be challenged by people of an equal or slightly higher skill level and still allow them to learn (which I presumed was the point of ranked.)

The problem is of course the people at challenger who would have to grind all the way back. I see that being an issue of course. But a plus side is that challenger is already overflowing with people and created the need for the master tier. A hard reset would allow for challenger to maybe be refined.

I know it is a lot to ask so I suggest that at least we get a harder soft reset to fix all of these problems of the people in the lower groups getting a fairer chance to be in a better rank and people in the higher tiers to not have fight as hard for their spots.

Also about the anecdote I provided about me, people who will suggest that I look up guides or watch streamers or something like that. Trust me. I've tried. And learned from that. I just kinda suck at carrying a game. I'm just a stronger team player than carry. Also to people who will say "bronze noob just lost a game lolololol noooob stfu" just don't comment.

I'm interested to know what others think of the solution. And if anyone wants to provide me with help and advice about my rank I will gladly take it.

I don't think you're going to find much sympathy on the boards. "ltp bronze nub" and all that :c

I think the main thing to keep in mind about a reset is that it makes it easier to get a high rank not because it places you at a certain rank initially but because you don't need to fight through promo's to advance. Win those first 10 games and you'll jump strait from Bonze whatever to mid Silver, no problem.

A hard reset places you at S5 while a soft one probably places you at B3. In either case if you lose most of your placement games you'll be in Bronze and if you win most of them you'll be in Silver. It doesn't matter what it initially places you at because you don't need to do promo's during them to get into Silver.

One thought I had was learning how to better balance pressure on opposite sides of the map. They stomping bottom? Take top. They getting dragon? Take mid. That sort of thing. Granted, I remember how every B4 (my lowest last year) game, we would have 1 or 2 who didn't care for teamwork. Do your best.

The real problem with a hard reset is that it puts everyone at exactly the same place. Now you are thinking, well yeah that is why I want Riot to do this, so I have a chance to get out of Bronze. Well picture this, Riot does a hard reset, everyone is now exactly the same MMR. Your 10 placement matches you have previous season Bronze and Silver players, while the other team is all Challenger and Master players, you get destroyed 10 games in a row. This is why Riot doesn't do a hard reset, to avoid the massive skill disparity that setting everyone to the same rating would do.

As for how you can get out of Bronze, I have two short recommendations. First stop treating ranked like ARAM, you have huge amounts of champions you have played 1-2 games on. Concentrate on the champions you are good at and leave experimentation to either other queues or until after you feel you are happy with your current placement. Second queue up with a friend. You say that your games have people who like to run around willy-nilly, well get another player on your team who won't do that.

the only reason to play ranked is for the victorious rewards imo

just play the game to have fun man. nothing else really matters.
