Hey guys, welcome to this week’s 'Meanwhile in Top Lane...' post, with hawt banner courtesy of Crazy Boris.

A lot happens in a week - interesting discussions constantly pop up throughout the League ecosystem only to be replaced by the newest hotness and fall out of visibility. Hot topics of discussion don’t always stay that way for very long, so unless you’re on top of it all day every day (and who has time for that when there’s a ranked ladder to climb?), it’s easy to miss a lot.

With that in mind we'd like to try out a weekly post featuring some interesting conversations you may have missed as well as upcoming discussion opportunities.

Let us know what you think!

HUD update + Q&A

The in-game HUD is getting an update! The team behind the project put together a post sharing details and reasoning behind the changes, followed up with a Q&A sesh.

Pick order or feed

/u/HoboWithASpork cited a red post as a reminder that pick order takes precedence over call order, prompting discussions about which is best for various scenarios and the importance of communication in champ select.

Fnatic Rekkles and VG Attorney AMAs

Fnatic Rekkles conducted a long-awaited AMA, and elsewhere, an attorney answered questions about how esports can potentially take advantage of players and how that can be prevented.

GIVE US MCNEILL

Lore aficionados noticed that Warhammer novelist and writer Graham McNeill has joined Riot as the new senior narrative writer and discussed what his presence could mean for League lore.

They did the maths

u/paralyticbeast questioned why numbers aren’t displayed in the tooltips, sparking debate over whether it's necessary. Gypsylord and Ghostcrawler chimed in with background on why we’ve so far decided not to include it.

CUTS: Clean Up The Synonym-for-poop

In a post over on the PBE boards, Riot Meyea broke down what the CUTS team does and revealed that they’ve re-written how skillshots fly in order to fix a bug that caused them to randomly miss. Meyea also stuck around to answer questions and discuss other bugs folks have discovered.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of buffs

Meddler shared a couple details about Gangplank’s upcoming rework (citrus and being k are sticking around!), and elsewhere revealed that MF’s visual update will also include changes to Make It Rain, sparking discussion about what the change could be and how it’ll affect her gameplay.

Dat Ashe

Katrina Steiner kicked off a discussion about ADC balance when s/he questioned the tentative nerfs to Ashe’s Q -- Meddler chimed in to explain how the change preserves strengths that distinguish her from other ADCs, and stuck around to discuss our philosophy around champion diversity.

Fresh batch of LeBlanc threads

MANY players continued to share STRONG FEELINGS about LeBlanc and her propensity for deleting opponents. Meddler (he’s everywhere this week) shared some tentative upcoming changes for her, leading to further discussion about what kind of difference they’ll make.

10 out of 10 mid mains agree

LegitBacon66 started a discussion about Ekko’s ult after making the crazy proposition that it mayyybe needs a mana cost.

The more you know

Lane bullies got you down? We posted a video by Phroxzon (OCE) that teaches us all about the “trading stance,” a method that makes winning trades and securing kills easier.

The roffles

For your dose of fun: Icestar1186 put together a cheeky noob dictionary, players on the subreddit shared the best in-game names they’ve seen, and /u/Zaaptastic posted a “Behind The Music”-esque look at the finer details of our favorite champions’ lives.

You may have missed...

Pick order or feed

A false choice. The only consideration to be had is which order will make the team mostly likely to win. That is players playing their best possible roles and team composition that fits the style. Any other consideration defeats the purpose of a team game that MOBA such as LoL is. Would you rather win you last promo game to Silver or Lose epically with a pick you trolled?

Indeed it is so...

A Miss Fortune6/5/2015, 7:03:08 PM1 votes

As a MissFortune main I look forward to seeing the buffs, but I hope they reflect her personality and gameplay style more. She is by no means, bad, as champion overall. However, Riot purposely set up a lot of ability to counterplay her. Why? Well, imagine a Miss Fortune that always had her passive up, had no cast times on her abilities, and could move while shooting her ultimate. She would be a monster and I think Riot did well with it, she has extremely high damage and can carry games alone but she's just become a bit outdated with the new champions. So I hope the buffs go the right way.

I however would request that her E's damage not be buffed, Miss Fortune arguably has some of the highest ADC damage due to her gaining up to 48% more AD on her auto attacks, being impossible to counter since her abilities and auto attacks deal heavy mixed damage, and she has instant resets with a game changing ultimate. She doesn't need more damage at all, and I hope the changes to "Make it Rain" don't overload Miss Fortune on more damage that she doesn't need and subsequently make her overpowered with like, a +110% AD scaling Make it Rain. Instead I think it should simply be used for utility and make it more reliable to use. It's a great spell with many different uses, but it also takes a very long time to master them and they may not always be worth it. Allowing your waves to push, following up with an engage, checking bushes, slowing fleeing enemies or enemies pursuing you. But it takes a long time to actually master when and where to use this, it has a cast time so if you use it improperly you could end up allowing the enemy to get closer to you as you flee them by accident.

These are just my opinions on a long time Miss Fortune main and my hopes and worries about her.

tl;dr Miss Fortune has extremely high damage that's impossible to fully counter completely due to her doing heavy mixed damage. Don't make her E do more damage, make it for utility and more reliable.
