This is why Riot is a great company

My family lost everything we owned in a house fire two weeks ago. Today, I checked the mail and found a care package from Hollymonster and Riot Games. Talk about above and beyond!

we are gonna be fine... it's a struggle right now, but I'm sure down the road, when we look back, it'll just look like a speed bump

A company is made up of people, Reds are good people.

apparently, they are REALLY good people. in an age of companies placing emphasis on money over customer needs (my cable company charged me $600 to replace their lost equipment), it's so refreshing to see that my family matters to at least one company.

Would it appear inapropriate if I where to say I would gladly have my house burnt for those oranges? Idk they just seem like the most perfect thing one could possess. I feel like looking at it daily alone could fix alot of my recent anxiety

Anyway it looks like the perfect present

add me in game "Steve The Pale" and get your address to me. I'll gladly ship one your way.

Im from EUNE so I imagine it would be quite complicated. Anyway, you should keep them. You need them more than me atm.

Best of luck. Boards are always here to support you

TBH yes it would. I am happy that Steve The Pale is fine with this comment, but having your house burnt down is a very tragic incident. Think about how much you would need to replace... EVERYTHING! I advise you to rethink your comment.

Sunfield2 votes

Im familiar with tragic incidents and using them as a joke when I talk to people is pretty much my defense mechanism. When I struggle with something bad, people always treat me as if I was made of fragile glass and I tell you, this kind of forced empathy usually iritates me. But well it might be just me. Im happy that OP didnt take my words for making fun of his loss as well.

Not at all accusing you of being fraudulent, but how did you manage to recover your computer and stuff? Or did the fire get handled before it spread to where they were and you got them after? I had a garage fire a few years back and not only did it destroy almost everything, but the fire department/police wouldn't even let us in the house until they declared it totally dealt with hours after we called them.

p.s. hope the emergency services bills aren't too bad, and that your insurance behaves appropriately. p.p.s. don't let your family sit on the insurance without taking action, my garage still isn't rebuilt and the insurance company is starting to threaten expiration of the coverage.

We actually lost everything including a vehicle. I seriously made it out in shorts and crocs (I'm not proud of that). The computer in the picture is a loaner from a League of Legends community organization in Oklahoma called United As [ONE]. The head of that group is actually the guy that reached to to Riot unbeknownst to me.

Downvotes from people who didn't believe I was being genuine. :\

Meanwhile here I am thinking that this is even cooler - the community and Riot reaching out for you. Anyway glad your family is all safe and hope the recovery is as painless as possible. Good luck. :)

As someone who has had a string of bad news in the past week, this brings a tear to my eye. So happy to see people looking out for one another. Bless you and our family, and in the wise words of Lux, stay positive.

Oh my god how can a company get so good? I mean you are not even a community celebrity, just a random guy who clearly had a family tragedy and they put effort into giving you and your family help like these. I hope you will be able to get things back to normal soon. I think I'm going to marry League of Legends someday...xD

I'm especially proud for riot that it was a handwritten note, typed letters can seem so impersonal sometimes, even though the gesture is incredible by itself. WP Riot.

yeah it was definitely a nice touch

"Riot is a great company because ONE Rioter gave me a very thoughtful gift after asking for something."

While that was nice of Holly, I SINCERELY hope you are joking.

WHERE CAN I BUY THOSE ORANGES?!

On a sidenote, riot is really friendly to their community and can be really awesome. I remember someone asking about poro lore or something similar and they got a set of papers with everything they wanted to know and more. Amazing stuff to see.

It's a little rough right now, but it has definitely started to look up since we found us a little rent house... and got some internets for the league playing! lol

Really sorry about your loss. It's amazing how Riot did all of this! It's not often that you see a company doing this for people especially in these hard times.
