I have well over 500 teamwork honors but never have gotten a ribbon, wouldn't ask but the next closest is honorable opponent and its at 250 and the rest are under 100 each. I guess i just wonder how many of any one it takes to get the banner for loading screen/in champ select?

Ribbons aren't given based on the number of honors you receive, but rather they are given based on how frequently you receive honors. You need to consistently earn enough honors per game, nearly every single game you play, in order to receive a ribbon. Also, once you get a ribbon, you need to continue to receive that type of honor frequently enough, otherwise eventually you will lose the ribbon.
