Anyone care to shed some light as to why trashtalk is a bannable offense?

Punishable is understandable (chat restrictions) but how is it okay to lose an account over it? It just seems unacceptable.

Because we, as a community, have told Riot that we, as a community, do not accept it. As a result, it is punishable. The scale of punishments goes from chat restriction to suspension to banning... based off of severity and frequency. If you do not learn from the early punishments, then you are going to get the more severe ones.

Learn trash-talking from Rammus and you will never fear being banned.

Double-kill the enemy when they gank you?

Rammus "OK"

Enemies tried to 3-man tower dive you and all died?

Rammus "OK"

Get caught out by four people and kill one before dying?

Rammus "OK"

Basically, there is a fine line between "trash-talk" and disrespecting/insulting the enemy players and that line can differ between people. If you can't tell where it is, then you should play it safe.

There's a line that is not clearly defined here. Trash talking is perfectly fine, however if it steps over the line and becomes disrespectful or insulting it is punishable.

Also if it leaves the match into the post game it is also punishable. Trash talking is a way to throw off your opponents game, so when the game is over the trash talk should end.

If you were banned for it, you obviously don't know when to stop the trash talking. That's the problem.

So you do not understand the definition of harassment. You think you are just trash talking when you you are really harassing.

You should edit your post and include your reform card link from riot.

It's called sportsmanship. Show respect for your competition.
