Anyone understanding the placements?

After finishing 7-3, I was demoted down to bronze 5 from bronze 4 (The new champ select helped a lot, nice job Riot!!). Another friend of mine after going 7-3 was demoted from gold 3 to silver 5. If they were going to give bad placements, I'd have rather just stayed where I was at near my promos in bronze 4 where I ended last season and likely continue advancing upwards thanks to the 7-3 record.

Not gonna lie, most people I've spoken to are furious with how they were demoted severely despite records no worse than 7-3 and we're all just confused as to why it happened. Anyone have an idea as to why the placements are working out like this?

All you people complaining, but remember that challenger players are put in Plat 1 at most. They have it the worst.

I do think Riot should come out and address placements a little better. Like.. if you are bronze no matter what you go you will be bronze. They should at least give you some lp if you are successful. Low silver should drop to high bronze, high silver to low silver, low gold to high silver etc. Thats how it seemed to work last season. But now it sounds like players are dropping closer to a tier. So G5-S5, P5-G5 or worse, etc.
