Return/Launch of New Missions as Promised?

With the announcement of the new "missions" system I was personally quite excited. I thought having a new way to acquire loot would be fun, and when shown how the system would be introduced, I couldn't wait to start trying to complete missions and obtain the loot from completing them. when they were announced it was shown that the missions would be related to doing certain activities on certain champions, such as obtaining kills or gold or wins on certain champions. With this in mind, it is understandable that these weren't shown in the VS event missions, which makes sense. Despite this, now that the VS event is over, I personally haven't seen any new missions pop up asking me to do anything. I assumed that there were already a set of missions in place to occur and trigger once the event would end. Seeing as though I was wrong, RIOT hasn't yet released any info on new missions, and it looks as though missions were only for the event. This brings me to a few questions:

Were missions only for events? Are there new missions outside of events coming? Am I the only one not getting missions now that the event has ended? Are the missions still being created and put in place as the event is ending/has ended?
