Chat Restriction and Ranked Restrictions

This chat restriction and ban from rank doesn't solve anything but anger your players. This is honestly the dumbest thing I have ever seen on this game.

First of all, this chat restriction is so stupid. The ONLY thing this chat restriction does is cause more anger and built up frustration because you can't communicate and you can't explain yourself when your team ask why you did something if you don't have any stupid talk points. I havent been able to enjoy this game at all because of this chat restriction that keeps adding onto my account. I finished a 200 chat restriction, RIGHT after a 350 game chat restriction pops up. This has to be a joke. This system is a joke and banning people from playing ranked is a joke. This is a competitive game, I am a competitive player, if someone cant follow simple task I tend to get mad, if they don't want to hear me yell they can MUTE ME, is that not why you have the MUTE function!?!? Instead of everyone relying on the report system to get some one in trouble they should mute them and be done with it. How about instead of chat restriction, players who are toxic have a red mark over their name or something and it advises players to mute that toxic player because he is known for being toxic.

Second, the "win 35 normal games to go back to ranked" thing is DUMB. NO ONE takes NORMALS seriously, im the ONLY one on my team trying as hard as if its ranked and everyone else is just not giving any shits at all. Most of the people in there go practice new champs and just don't care about a lost. ALL that does is get me mad and tell them to stop feeding, then they say "ITS NORMAL HUE IT DON'T MATTER", then I start to be toxic and guess what? I'M reported and I get 3000 more chat restriction games to my account. This is ridiculous, I can't communicate, I get three messages, and I cant say anything to anyone in all chat about the game. This game is built on team work but I cant even communicate. Pings dont do anything, can pings tell my team to ward baron? Can pings tell my team WarWicks ult is down? Theirs plenty more pings can NOT do.

Theirs always going to be competitive players that are "Underground" players as Microsoft names them. Set up some type of category or something, because this chat restriction and game bans don't fix a thing at all. And i'm not going over this and fixing any punctuation because i'm on tilt right now. I have to win 31 games to get back into ranked and im the only one in normal taking the game seriously, AND I still have a 250 game chat restriction.

I even said to myself, okay, i'm going to calm down and just be a relaxed player and try not to get mad. 10 minutes into the game i'm dealing with some cocky kid who comments on every single one of my plays, I start talking back to him, and guess what? HE has all chat advantage so he says "Everyone report him hes toxic" and I can't do anything but sit there and watch him fill the enemy team with lies to get me reported. This whole entire chat restriction/ranked restriction is a joke.

I'm not the only one that thinks this new functions is stupid, it's all over the boards, this guy had a perfect example.

I agree, normals do not matter. HOwever, I am starting to get a bit annoyed with this. Riot doing this has made people way too competiive in normals. I was actually having fun and relaxing and actually being nice for a change. Then I realized I actually have to WIN all of these games to play games that actually matter......Really? They made a stress free queue into a tryhard equally stressful place now. I remain calm but now I have to deal with a bunch of people who are high stress just being jerks all game. Holy hell, now I know why people were so angry about it.

Ive been in several different games and no one cares at all about normals. I just rage quit a game where we were 0/8 and someone said "it's normal it doesn't matter". WELL IT MATTERS TO ME, and it matters to the other people who are stuck in this dumb ranked ban. Like I said previously, instead of punishing people for getting mad in a competitive game you should promote your MUTE function more instead of your in game report function that just causes mass chaos.

And banning doesn't solve anything because the people that are banned just make new accounts and get mad at new players for sucking too. My other account is perma banned for a dumb reason, and I spent so much money on skins on that account. It's dumb that I am getting restricted when your players can just mute me and be done with it. The players love seeing someone get in trouble and they love relying on your BUILT IN report system that you just click two times to get someone in trouble.

System is working as intended. You don't belong in this game. Go play something else. No one wants to play with someone like you, and that's why you got the restrictions in the first place. Take a hint?

I agree with you wholeheartedly OP. There shouldn't be 200 day and 350 day chat restrictions. You're absolutely right.

Riot should have just permabanned you and been done with it.

I agree with op. My point of view is different though. If I am in a game the only time I say something in chat is if I am trying to promote teamwork ( lets do dragon or group top and push) That is it. The problem is if some troll or rager on your team isnt doing well and you say something like this they get mad at you and something like F$%K you noob we cant do dragon. This makes everyone mad and most people would just ignore him but not me. I respond and let him know that he is being toxic and not helping the team win. Usually I end up muting them and reporting them after the game. But they will ALWAYS report you back. Never fails they will report everyone on the team if they arent sure who it was. So when I get chat restricted and I've never cussed someone out or said racist remarks like I see I can only assume I'm getting restricted for trying to convince these trolls to stop flaming. With out any human interaction involved in these auto bans people are just getting chat restricted and ranked bans left and right because they reported a troll and got reported back. Back in the tribunal players could see that the person that reported me was actually the one flaming and I was just trying to get them to stop and I would get pardoned. Their is no pardon with this auto system. You are automatically guilty as soon as the troll reports you back.

TL:DR getting reported for reporting a flamer gets you chat restricted and ranked ban, its a broken automated system with no human interaction involved. Bring back tribunal

Read this again: that is why you have such an absurdly high chat restriction. If someone has to mute you, that's only a band-aid that stops the bleeding, but doesn't take away the pain. The damage has already been done. Besides, why are you holding someone else to be mature when you don't seem to have the maturity to just not say anything? That is an unfair double standard, and the reason why you're getting reported and chat/ranked restricted. It doesn't matter who is doing what, why they are doing it or how they are going about it: retaliation is not, has not, and will never be considered acceptable. All that does is make the situation worse for EVERYONE involved, and I pity the normal draft guys who have to run into you as you continue to try and work it off.

Also, Riot seems to think that the chat restrictions are very effective at reforming those who act out of line a little bit. Most people get something like 10 or 20 games, realize what they did wrong, and move on as if nothing happened. 200 and 350 games is absurdly high, and it wouldn't surprise me if you saw a 14-day ban hit you sooner or later. I will admit that I cannot look at Riot's statistics and prove that when they say more than 75% of the community that are hit with restrictions never see them again, but that means it's your word against theirs. They have a lot more to lose by lying than you do, and just because they aren't helping you doesn't mean that they are being completely ineffective. If they were, they would have moved on to something else. Your inability to learn from your actions is not our problem.

The main point is, with this chat restriction and ranked restriction it doesn't fix any problems. If your chat restricted and want to play the game competitvley (that is built up on communication and teamwork) 80% of the time you'll just get further frustrated or not be able to communicate and lose the game. With the ranked restrictions, the only thing that has done is made normals (wich was a place to practice and chill) a must win competitve game mode so you can get back into ranked. I never played normals after I got into ranked, now i'm in normals working my ass off while everyone else doesn't care for the win or lost. If you've never been in the chat restriction/ranked restriction pool then theirs no reason for you to comment on something you've never experienced.

This was amusing...

I honestly never had been punished on this game. However, I agree that in no way should you be forced to win games to get unrestricted. Simply playing the game would suffice as most people are nice until they start losing games... If anything, winning would improve their attitude by itself.

Though for the incredibly toxic, I'd rather them simply get # of games being muted entirely. Maybe even prevent them from pinging, but that'd cause them to get reported for lack of communication which is BS given their situation...

I know! Force them into 5-10-20-40-80 bot games per punishment. Have the punishments reduce a tier for every month they are on good behavior! That would ruin their gaming experience enough to encourage them not to be bad enough to merit punishment while not putting them in a position where they're just going to get further reports for lack of communication and teamwork.

Not to mention, good players can end bot games in 15 minutes, so it's not like it will take them as long as it sounds to clear the punishment.

I'm stuck playing to win 24 Draft Normals even though that could take weeks depending on the players I end up having. You cannot single carry a game. I been advancing in Ranked aside from a few games where toxic/salty players ganged up on me to help in a losing game when it's obvious that their experience is lacking when they feed a snowbally champ.

So.. I find this punishment stupid when you are forced to win games.

I feel that chat restrictions are how they should be. However, being forced to win X number of draft games? no that's bs.

Should you have to PLAY X amount of draft games? yes but winning a normal game is super difficult due to the "its normals it doesnt matter" mentality. You do have an issue though, CALM DOWN. you have 3 msgs, well use them wisely. I have been on a 1250 chat restrict spree varying from 25 matchs to -175 matches of chat restrict all up to this one and Ill probably get another set when this one is done. why? Cause I can be toxic in about 1/15 matches.

Ranked restriction? BULLSHIT. No just NO. Double the amount of games you have to play to get into ranked again but NO MORE OF THIS "WIN X amount of games"

Would just like to say I'm done and moving to heroes of the storm. I love this game but the chat restriction is stupid. Riot wants to lose its paying customers for kids who spam report over nothing at all and actually get punished for it?? Absolutely had enough. Its honestly sad that they don't even check these reports. The only thing i ever do is use profanity not at anyone just stuff like shit thats hilarious. WTF is there a profanity filter for???? If your gonna get reprimanded for using vulgar words?? Good luck riot we had a good run...

Came here just to comment on this system. Yes, I realize i was being a douche over one bad game, yes I probably deserve punishment. But restricting communication in a game heavily depending on teamwork and communication.. you have to just take a step back and honestly ask "wtf?" there has to be a better way. It is EXTREMELY frustrating and I would go as far as to say just makes the player even more toxic.
