Did Riot really get sold to a Chinese Company?
Just heard that Riot was sold to a Chinese company from a parent who's friend works for Riot but I haven't seen anything about it on Reddit or the boards or anything.

Tencent (Chinese company) has owned the vast majority of Riot's Shares for years now. They just now have 100% ownership. Which will presumably mean very little.
The company name is Tencent, They already owned part of riot, they just bought the rest of it is all. not like its a huge change or anything. Here is the link http://www.riotgames.com/articles/20151215/2132/riot-comp-changes-incoming

There are a few people raging about it on the boards. They've posted multiple threads in the past few days.
Tencent has been Riot's parent company since 2011, though. They've been content to let Riot operate independently while they soak up some revenue. About the only "influence" most people might've noticed is the Lunar Revel. While not strictly Chinese in tradition, the event is held during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. Several skins are Chinese in nature.
