So I live in Omaha,Nebraska.. and I have people living in Florida getting less ping then I am. There sitting around 42 and I am near 60-66 but it sits between those. So my question is since Chicago is literally 4 hours away why am I not getting less ping then someone who is almost 21 hours away.
could just be a problem with your ISP or your internet is just not as fast as your friend.

Because when it comes to ping time, geographical distance isn't particularly important.
What matters most is the number of "hops" that has to be made to go from point A to point B. Each "hop" is another router (or similar device) that has to analyze your packet and send to the next step on the journey. The processing time for this analysis - while extremely quick - takes much longer than transit time between points.
Which means it's most likely that you're simply routing through more hops than they are.
