Some ranked solo/duo problems and possible solutions
First, I'd like to say this may or may not be the right place to post, tho it is in the gameplay and balance section of the game, just not in champions.
Now, I see nothing but problems in low elo, and it carries over to mid and high elo due to people getting carried. it creates hell, and frustration in game and can be solved.
The problem in low elo, bronze, silver and gold. The issue in bronze and silver, is they're matched together, and people have the genius idea to head into ranked right when they hit 30. They fail to understand very basic gameplay, no awareness, no teamfighting. For the people that make it out and make it to higher elo, they are lucky not to get stuck with them. And then since new 30's get lucky, they get into silver without learning the game well enough to be considered silver. Because they get carried, they end up with medium elo and cause nothing but problems there. Then, from medium to high elo, there's nothing but trolls, once again, Luck and a little skill, get people up even more.
Now, the earliest, and biggest hell problems, are trolls and new 30's. The solution to trolls: crackdown on them and let them know they won't be tolerated. The Solution to new 30's: make it to where people have to have to clear a pre ranked system, or by making it to where they have to have so many regular wins and/or have been playing the game for so long. Also, I get how higher elo should drop by losing. however, to cusion low elo to those who are unlucky enough to be able to get out due to team mates, no elo drop. Another solution to solo/duo, change LP from win/loss to playing ability. If it is changed to that, we can better judge how good somebody is, and can reduce the frustrations of "WIN WIN WIN", while winning is important, it also isn't everything. Another problem, is dropping below in tier. While division goes up and down, should the tier? If somebody has a bad match loses the points, then gets stuck with trolls/people who shouldn't be where they are, and lose because of it, should they get dropped from their rightful tier? An example: A gold 5 gets a run of bad matches, then plays poorly in one game. then gets stuck with trolls and gets bumped to silver, then gets stuck with bad players and constantly gets demoted, then it adds to the frustration of getting out not just to the gold player, but also to the other players that are honestly trying to get better, and get higher for better players, and better challenges. They lose the lp while the gold just carries the entire team to a win because nobody knows what they're doing. Also, we should probably stop mixing tiers as well. Keep bronze with bronze, gold with gold, master with master, etc etc. Could end a lot of frustratioin in lost matches as well.
Look, the point is, the problems are huge, and the fixes are simple (require some time scripting them in tho). I know what everybody's thinking at this point. It makes sense but this guy's so low it's laughable. I've been playing the game for a few years, and once I learned had a high win rate and I started playing ranked for the reason of getting better. I've been demoted time after time due to team mates 90% of the matches. This one isn't for me, it's for all of those that are having the same problem match after match: getting teams who don't know how to communicate, don't know what they're doing, and/or constantly getting matches against people who probably shouldn't be that low in elo to begin with. I see the problems here, and the biggest is, people that make it to mid/high elo are just the lucky ones. Can we make it a little less about luck, and a little more on skill? Low elo, med elo, and high elo, it's all part of the ranked system, and low and mid need a little bit of love (low more so than mid or high). The last thing I'm going to say, is that this IS ranked NOT regular/casual. Shouldn't we all be a bit more professional about it regardless of where we are? If we learn to adapt to all the random team ups in solo/duo, we can get better as players, and without the needless raging and trolling, we can get better as people. For everybody regardless of where you are, take it to heart and consider it as a whole.
There's probably something I'm forgetting and/or missing, but you get the gist.
Ok, reposting here, apologies for double post. Edit: Also, some player mods from the good side of the community through out the different tiers of it.
