My Wrongful Ban and Eventual Account Reinstatement

You have seen posts like this before. "I was banned for 3rd party programs and I have never used any such programs IN MY LIFE!!!" The comment section often filled with sarcastic remarks alluding to the fact that the poster clearly cheated and deserves the ban (and sometimes worse). This is not one of these posts as my account was just reactivated and I received a "sincere apology".

Last Tuesday I received an email that simply said I had been permanently banned. At this point, I didn't really believe it and attempted to connect. Sure enough... perm banned... So I made a ticket and several days later received word that I was banned for 3rd party programs and they were "very confident with the information we have gathered and will not be modifying this decision". Surprising, as I would have no clue how to acquire or use such a program... I was becoming upset now but remained calm and collected while writing with the support team. I was given nothing. I was treated like a criminal. My tickets were closed with no headway. I decided I would not give up though. I would make tickets requesting a reexamination of my case till they banned my support account as well, however, I remained respectful.

Today I received this in my email. http://imgur.com/a/eytch

I was happy for sure, but the whole situation has left me uneasy. Riot must have been so quick to ban me. Whatever evidence they thought they had was clearly misguided. I would love to say I am the kind of person who is strong enough to no longer give Riot my business over this, but I don't know if I can. I have played this game for so long, it sounds pathetic but it was hard grappling with the idea that I would never play it again.

I have begun to ramble so I'll just TLDR it: not all people claiming they were wrongfully banned are trying to figure out how to get their hacked accounts back. Some have been truly wronged and are treated like criminals for it.

Hmm that kind of scares me a little bit. I always have programs in the back, like spotify/pandora(for music) or Razer Synapse or Steam but like you i would never cheat or use a 3rd party program to enhance my play, hell i wouldn't know how to in the first place, and 2nd, I'm not willing to risk my $2000 PC for something as stupid as that.

Kinda shocks me how sudden of a ban RIot can give with absolutely no proof or evidence behind it, or at least not enough proof, or insufficient proof, and all they do is say "sorry for the inconvenience". That would of broken my trust and i would not be playing this game.

So you sir, respect, and i am glad you got your account back.

This is why we need the Tribunal back, very clearly their automated crap is just that, CRAP. Justice handed out by robots is not justice.

I understand Riots stance on not wanting to reveal their methods in how they determine and conclude that an account should be banned.

HOWEVER (and this is a big however!!!) i do not understand the unwillingness to communicate over the issue.

It's a fact that there have been wrongful -and subsequently reverted - permabans. This is one of these cases. I dont want to know how many people have simply given up trying to get real justice, because they were stonewalled hard by Riot, just because the involved Rioters were so sure their decision was justified. You persisted (maybe its not in your personality to give up easy) and were granted a review which turned out that you were innocent after all.

WHAT IF YOU HAD NOT BEEN PERSISTENT?!?

Riot, you need to take a really hard look at your procedures.

I am all for permabanning when it is deserved.

But a case like this one proves that you are not failsafe.

You case managers @Riot should take this as an opportunity to review what you did wrong.
