Idea to revamp the league System

Everyone knows that the league system was released and not much was done with it. I understand the concept but the fact that you don't know any of the people in your league makes doesn't motivate you anymore than the old elo system. So i was thinking what if everyone could create a league of the their own with x amount of their friends. This way there will be actual competition because you know everyone in your league.
