Lore (again): Kayle and Morgana

So.. with the retcons to the idea of the Institute of War and Summoners as well as 'lets bring everything to Runeterra', where do you think this would leave the two angels' lore? Here are just a few of the ideas I'm going to throw out:

  1. Kayle and Morgana are ancient beings who found Demacia and Noxus - this would be fitting in with how Kayle's allegiances list her as a Demacian on the champions board, despite the fact that she held almost no ties to the city-state given that she previously preferred to work with the Institute of War.
  2. They're aliens/ divine beings who chose their respective city-state based on their beliefs and have for some unknown reason taken their war to Runeterra.
  3. Remember when this dude Aatrox was released? Remember the insane speculations as to who the other four Darkins were? Maybe the Lore team might retcon the two winged ladies into Darkin and create a story as to why the Darkin fell and have splintered.
  4. Ascended beings from Shurima. It sure as hell doesn't fit the bestial nature of the other ascended beings from Shurima... but given how screwed up Lore is nowadays, anything goes.
  5. No changes at all, leaving one massive plot hole and a lot of the old lore lovers very, very sad.

Anyway, those are just some ideas that I have for my main champ (Kayle) since S1. What do you guys think?

Though I know it's not going to happen, I'm hoping Riot keeps Kayle and Morgana with their otherworldly backstory. I think it helped give them a unique feel and moreover it dictated what is and is not native to Runeterra. Changing those aspects of Kayle and Morgana would be very disappointing.

If anything, I believe that the angels would have their lore retconned to align more with Aatrox's backstory - where there are demons, there must also be angels. The change to Demacia on Kayle's part was just to align her with a faction that wasn't the now-defunct Institute of War, and I don't think Riot would go so far as to say that they founded Runeterra's two preeminent city-states. Also, since they weren't added to the Shurima retcons, it's highly unlikely that they have any relation to the Ascended :P

tl;dr they're probably going to be Darkin, or at least related to Darkin. Besides that hypothesis, I have nothing else.
