What's with removing high elo spectator section for more adds?

As a lower ELO player it's always great to be able to watch "live" games of high elo players to both learn how to play new champs and to see the game played extremely well. Has this feature been temporarily removed or gone forever? Life has been busy so I tend to use that spectator mode more than anything lately and would love to see it back soon instead of learning about IP boosts....

Yes, this is only temporary. Featured Games will be back soon.

Featured games should be its own tab in the client, so it doesn't have its spot stolen by whatever else Riot wants to push.

Leaving it out just makes me hate whatever is taking its place.

If you wish to view some high ranking games while it is down: 1: Enter your profile page 2: Click the Leagues tab 3: Change the Solo Queue drop-down bar to "Top Solo Queue Players" 4: Search down the list for players who have an eye in-between their name and win/loss score. (Eye resembles players who are currently in a game you may spectate.) 5: Right-click chosen player, and select "Spectate game."

This list, unfortunately, only shows Challenger and top Master league players, making it possible to have no games to spectate. Regular "Featured Games" seem like they can go down to Gold League.

Because math is important even after you graduate high school. Don't be mad, remember how to add.

Oh ya, you meant "ad".

Agreed, I often will spectate a high elo game while I'm waiting on friends to either log in or finish a match they are playing, and now I resent the IP boost ad for taking that away

Riot considers spectating someone without their permission to be 'cyber bullying'.

EternalDarknez5/31/2015, 1:32:42 AM2 votes

riot all about that money, slowly sucking out your entertainment to do so since over 2 years ago

LC$ BIG PLAY$ right zulu?

or is there another to problems like your 95+% broken champions upon release (minus bard) being op? wouldnt have anything to do with money would it? or is it because you guys dont use the pbe server correctly? jw which honestly, cuz atm im thinking its both mixed with bad management

but then again, i only know what you guys have said/shown me

And it's still not working.

its most likely only temporarily gone, last time they did that it came back

It's very very annoying and unappreciated. At times (more often these days than in the past) I would stop playing League but I would still log into the client to spec some games but when Riot removes it I just find myself not logging in anymore at all.

I assume it'll be back june 1st since that is when it will be too late to discover irl friends for the ip boost.

Doesn't matter for me anymore, when I spectate games my client breaks or the data can't be downloaded :(

Made a guide at http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/miscellaneous/Ru7anVax-get-rid-of-promo-overlay-so-you-can-spectate-high-elo-games-again

It allows you to get ride of the promo overlay, as the url says and gives you the classic lobby screen with spectator mode + some news and featured items.
