Dear Riot Games,

As an avid player of your wonderful game, I have been playing LoL since August of 2010, I started right as Miss Fortune was released, and It seems only fitting that now she is getting a rework that I am making my exit.

I love your game, I do not think I have been more captivated by a game since WoW, I love every aspect, from the ever changing meta, to the diverse champion base, to the fact that every game can be completely different. For these reasons I have chosen to support you guys as a company by spending a LOT of real money on merchandise that I do not really own, and I was ok with that, however, that ends today.

I have not played this game for over 4 years because I enjoy making others suffer, I play this game because it is fun. I admit that from time to time, I am in a bad mood and a few bad things are said from time to time, no different from anyone else. what i do NOT do however, is use racism, sexism, or simply go out of my way to join games just to make others lose. Those things are what diminish the games greatness and I will never take part in intentional trolling or truly cruel verbal abuse.

So why is it, that after over A month of good behavior by me, I am suddenly banned for 2 weeks, and will most likely have 75 chat restricted games and a ranked restriction, all because I was in a bad mood for a couple games? You totally destroy my experience for over a month because I was bad for maybe a day? I must say that I am kind of shocked. I have never experienced a company that goes out of its way to completely shut out some of its customers.

I would never get suspensions when the Tribunal was up, and I also have a smurf account, and guess what? I do not change my attitude on that account, It has never been banned, never been chat restricted, nothing, but for some reason, my main account is "marked" I am being watched all the time on my main, and the MOMENT I have a game where I say a couple bad things, or I tell someone who is verbally abusing me to F**k off, I get the full weight of the system smashed down upon me.

You have created a punishment system that gives power to EVERYONE, from paragons of the community, to the very worst of the community, trolls in game have just as much report power as someone who doesn't say a word.

Also, do you think that a 2 week suspension improves attitudes? I just log in one day and suddenly I cannot play for 2 weeks? you think I am going to be like 'oh yeah, I understand, ok" No, all it does is make me angrier that I just spent €40 on a company that can simply kick me out of their game whenever they see fit.

So because of this, I am choosing to stop supporting your company financially, congrats on the hundreds of € you have suckered from me, you will get no more. I am also done playing your game until you bring back the tribunal, this soulless automated ban system is as detrimental to the community as the very trolls it bans, you have created a big brother system that does not fix the inherent issue; just covers it up like a band-aid, all the people affected either cannot talk, or cannot play, the illusion of progress.

If you do not think losing 1 person matters, remember that at its peak, World of Warcraft had over 12 Million subscribers, now they have barely 7, titans fall all the time, and there are plenty of other outlets for people.

/end rant

TL;DR OP was toxic, got suspended, and believes because he's been playing a long time he should've been given a "Be toxic and it's ok" get out of suspension free card.

You have created a punishment system that gives power to EVERYONE, from paragons of the community, to the very worst of the community, trolls in game have just as much report power as someone who doesn't say a word.

According to Lyte, players who are regularly toxic have their report weight lowered compared to those who are not. Additionally, players who tend to issue false reports have their report weight lowered due to those false reports.

Two-week bans aren't intended to calm anyone down. They're intended as a last warning - the next step up is permaban. The goal is to protect the rest of the community from the behavior. At best, it sparks some introspection, and leads to a greater recognition of the behaviors that are deemed unacceptable. At worst, it triggers greater misbehavior, which leads to a permaban. It's not the best option, but it works, most of the time.

You do realize they have people who look at the reports too correct? So that other person that was affecting you most likely was also banned

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Is it right for you to be rude to someone who you will only spend 30 minutes playing a game with, just because he was rude to you first? No. Stop it. Focus on the game, ignore the flame.
