Idea to change the cost of the 530RP Starter Bundle to 400RP

After a lot of consideration, I've noticed two things.

  1. The 530RP starter bundle hardly looks appealing to buy. 8 champions that one can purchase for 450IP and two slightly discounted boosts that players don't really need, with the EXP boost losing its value after you hit level 30. In order to actually purchase this bundle, one needs to buy at least $5 of RP.

  2. The 400 free RP that players are given after reaching level 3 is negligible and there are few things one can actually purchase with that amount. To list a few, one can buy: -A 3150IP (or less) champion on sale -A 750RP (or less) skin on sale -A summoner icon -A couple of boosts

So let's get to the actual point of this post.

Consider this from the standpoint of a new player, whom the starter bundle is meant to target. Upon reaching level 3, you receive 400 free RP to do whatever you'd like with, albeit there are very few courses of action that you can actually take. You've barely started playing the game, maybe you've played a couple of bot games at best and you've dabbled with Ashe, Ryze or Garen which they offer to you in the tutorial. You haven't familiarized with any actual champions, so using the free RP to buy a champion is out of the picture, lest you shell out 260RP for a champion that you can buy for free after a couple of games, or you buy a champion that's on sale that you can afford, at the risk of not liking it. You don't even own any champions at this point, so buying a skin is literally impossible. You could buy a summoner icon, but for what reason would you need it? At this point, the most beneficial course of action would be to buy an IP or an EXP boost so you can get a slight edge in levels or IP to buy more champions.

In order to remedy this situation, I suggest changing the price of the Starter Bundle from 530 RP to 400 RP.

This way, it gives newer players a better option to spend the free RP that Riot gives to them. It fixes the problem of having nothing to spend your free RP on and the problem of new players not being able to actually buy the Starter Bundle. In order to purchase the Starter Bundle, you have to buy at least $5 worth of RP, $10 in the case of Canadians (C'mon Riot, cut us a break!). I would be skeptic before spending any money on a game, and that money could be used towards purchasing the more enjoyable, cosmetic skins. Changing the price of the bundle would give new players a more diverse selection of champions to choose from and familiarize with. Having 8 champions that you own eliminates the problem of finding a new champion to learn every week, because you can't afford that champion you really like yet and it's not on Free Week. This gives new players an easier transition into playing League of Legends at literally no cost. There could be the problem of exploiting the discounted IP/EXP boosts, and this can be remedied with a 1-purchase limit per account.

I remember a couple of years back when I received my 400 free RP that I wasted it on buying Garen Garen with RP. In any case, who could blame me? I had no idea what I was doing back then. If the price of the Starter Bundle was changed to 400RP, it could save a bunch on new players from wasting RP on Garen.

I hope my idea makes it to people who can actually make a change, because this could potentially help a lot of new players. If you agree, please upvote this post!

Dropping the starter bundle would significantly boost a new players success at the game. The free 400 RP is a great gift, but honestly what can you do with it? I'm pretty sure I wasted it on a stupid icon :/

Dude, don't you get it .?. That is EXACTLY why the free RP is 400 and not more ... so that it will drop you a bait to pull out your wallet and "chip in" in order to actually buy something ...

simple, basic, marketing ...

I hate that they actually allow the starter champs to cost RP at all, it is nothing but a trap for inexperienced players who know nothing about the game yet.

Not gonna lie for 400 RP i couldn't buy anything so i bought an Ashe skin on sale :/ I wish there were a bundle or some sort available without me having to drop money on the game. It keeps the new player base interested and engage dn the community by being able to play with more than one champion, or never being able to play the same champion they like with the weekly rotation. This game can get kinda grindy and It makes people feel like the only way to progress is to drop money, which is not a good feeling.

I like this idea. I think its something that should be considered

Personally I wasted my RP on Jack of Hearts TwistedFate. Loved that champ....loved...and now I don't even play him or when I do its underworld lol.

like you said everything on it is easy to earn on your own and 5$ is not alot of money. less than an hour of work at min wage. nothing in this world is free and if you want to keep playing this awesome game and getting lots of new content someone must pay for it. hell most bs apps on your phone give you way less for 5 bucks. pay up or shut up.

I've been sitting at 395 leftover RP for a few years now item 3070 item 3070 .

Mostly because I boycotted giving this game anymore money until they give us east coast servers (their plan to centralize the servers is OK too, but it's still been years in the making with no release time frame other than "phase 3").

I hate point systems in general -- they are a sleezy business practice to try to get people to keep spending money because you always have a left over sum of points that you feel like are being wasted. Just let me buy the things I want for a strait up price Rito. Xbox Live and PSN did away with their point systems, take a lesson.

I dunno, if they dropped it to 400, they might as well remove the 400 free RP and just give all new players the starter kit, since that's what most will end up buying.

I don't know if we should be encouraging new players to spend their RP on the starter bundle. They are much better off using RP for a champ that's on sale and just using IP for the champs in the starter bundle anyway.
