Silver player who wants to become Platinum

I AM CRITVEN·9/17/2015, 8:43:30 AM·2 votes·601 views

I am a Silver 4 player and recently i have become very good mechanically ever since getting out of bronze and practicing hours of games learning new champs and new mechanical skills. My friends have always liked playing with me because i am pretty good at stomping lanes (especially mid and top solo lanes) but even though i get fed i am also really extremely good at making the wrong choices and throwing my lead. But also i have tried countless times to help other lanes win with success but i would still lose the game.... I think my biggest weakness is that i just don't know the game i am playing. I don't know how to play league of legends objectively but i can play it well mechanically.

I want to ask how i can improve on the game itself; like strategy, when to make a certain decision such when to split or when to group. etc. because i am going to continue to practice my mechanics for sure since i know its my greatest strength, but i want to learn the game so that i can get out of silver.

Well maybe i can help. Not only because we have similar stories but because i am the exact opposte of you :D

I am much better at reading the map and taking objectives then solo outplay (guess that's why i play support and jungle mainly)

So maybe i can help you out.

So the first thing you have to keep in mind in my opinion is: "What are the strenght and weaknesses of out team composition?" I know that this is relative in solo Q but playing to your champions strenghts will leade you to victory. Just to do a very stupid example: If you have a Master yi stacking up devour in the jungle you should put ALOT of focus on taking dagons, because hat thing gives 5 stack alone.

The second thing is: Try to follow the enemy jungler movement at all times. This is really important couse junglers set up the tempo of the game in most cases, and knowing when to play aggressive or defensive is important. If you saw enemy jungler doing red buff and you are the blue team top lane, you should already know that he will gank you most likely, so dont play aggressive.

The third thing is: Keep up the vision in the points where it matters. Hoe many times you heard, wards win you games. Well that's not true. Wards win you games only if you know how to place them. I see people that never get the right spot with this. In general, you have to ward when you predict your team will go.

I fyou know you are going to siege enemy mid towers, you have to place up wards at the sides in time, to avoid flanks.

I can continue forever so i stop here :) hope it helps :)

League of Legends is like a chess game and like the maze runner. It involves strategy and decisiveness.

Work on maximising your vision and the efficiency of your vision. If you can duo queue, work together on creating as much EFFECTIVE vision as you can. By effective vision I mean, the best possible vision setting you can provide at a given point in time. For example. Say we're at the 10 minute mark and you want to take dragon. Instead of focusing your vision control on the top side jungle focus your vision control on the opposing bot side jungle and immediate dragon area. Get deep wards in the enemy jungle in COMMON pathways for enemies to come through (maximising the chances of spotting an incoming threat) and try to control the scuttles on both sides as much as you can. Especially the dragon scuttle. Remember, you can have 1 active pink up at a time. If you ever have 100 spare gold, buy a pink. Even if you have one active. Chances are it will die, in which case you can immediately replace it or put a new pink down in a more efficient spot based on the play you are making or planning to make.

Like in a maze, you need to be decisive. League of Legends...Summoners Rift can be thought of as the maze from Maze Runner. There's one map with changing routes to success. The route changes depending on what is happening in the game. But most the time, the situations in games are repeatable and you will have the same scenario in several games. For example, you have position on the second mid turret and attempt to siege, but realise you would make better use of your time rotating to dragon due to the position you have on mid lane.

You should make plays based on your position. That said you should also be decisive with your position based on your plays. Having appropriate and effective vision control will allow you to make more decisive decisions on where to position yourself in both team fights and in general.

One skill I have found most valuable is micro managing my effectiveness and the effectiveness of my team. I'm sure you've been in a situation where your team has simply sieged a tower for 10 minutes whilst the enemy defends it. This is a huge waste of time. Always look at your map, look at your position and the enemies position. Don't waste 10 minutes in one lane when you have the position to rotate to another objective, e.g. another lane or dragon. General rule of thumb. There is always an objective available. Just open your eyes.

Another thing I would recommend. Don't wait for an opportunity to present itself. If you're sieging a tower for 10 minutes chances are both teams are simply waiting for one team to fk up and create an opening for the other team to attack and win the fight. Again, don't waste your time. If you're waiting for an opportunity to present itself look around and look for opportunities already available and even better, create opportunities. Look at the clock, look at camp timers, look at turret health and wave sizes. Take into account all of these and make the decisive decision and make the right play.

League is like chess. There are millions of ways to win. There are millions of ways to lose...from mistakes and indecisive decisions. Think of all the possibilities and set your own route.

Note: This is just an opinion and in no way will guarantee any actual success in the fields of justice. I wish you the best of luck though.
