Lost ranked promo thanks to client crash

After winning 5 straight ranked games and going into my promo series, the league client crashed and I instantly lost my first promo game. This has happened on numerous occasions to other players within the community. Why is there no grace period for disconnects during champ select ESPECIALLY when it's on Riot's fault?
