Solution to AFK'ers/Disconnects (RANKED)

Hello summoners, for practically anyone playing this game, we can all relate to losing League Points/MMR due to disconnects or AFK Summoners in general. The following solutions are just ideas that could be completely erroneous, but id like to hear your opinions on them. These solutions are only for ranked games due to losses of MMR.

Solution 1

While playing a ranked game, if a player is inactive for 5 minutes+, its almost always a loss. Whether the person stays afk, or comes back and feeds due to being under-leveled; its a common frustration. When a player is inactive for at least five (this could be changed to 10) minutes, it is registered. If this team ends up losing, most likely because of an afk, then the players will not lose LP, and the afk/disconnect loses double (also changeable) the amount he/she would have lost normally.

Solution 2

This solution has many of the same aspects as the previous one. When a player goes afk for at least ten minutes, the game should register it and take action. When this happens, the match will end; despite who was winning. Riot created the ranked queue to progress displaying your skill. Winning against a team with lower members than yours really does not display much skill nor help a player progress. No one would lose LP, expect for the AFK'er in which would lose double the amount he already lost (x2 could be altered). This solution would also save time to play additional games instead of lose due to an AFK.

Solution 2 could still be abused with Duo queues. Have one player get on a smurf and duo with the other. If the game starts to be a losing game, the smurf could just dc. Since it is a smurf, it doesn't matter as much where they are in rankings.

Solution 1 could as well, but could maybe be altered a bit to be plausible. Maybe like have the 4 players who didn't dc lose 1 less LP than normal, and the dcer would lose 4 more LP. This could still be somewhat abused, but 1LP won't make people try and abuse it. Although, this still isn't really ideal either. I mean sometimes things happen and you have to afk, it really sucks when you HAVE to leave even though you don't intend to.

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this problem =/

lol solution 2, the solution to ever finishing a match again? and for number 1, I see alot of people having trouble loading the matches, and coming in late. once in a while, it seems very rare, but even I have received this 'firewall' bug that forces me to task manager and log back in to make the match connect. it's extremely rare, for me, but once ina while I see others having the issue too. also other issues seemt o cause them to load late. I must say that those times I get the firewall bug, with 'solution' 1 i would task manager out as usual, and then watch a movie and come back later and not waste my time on the match. neither of your 'solutions' will do anything other than make people PO'd and more difficult to play with, if not encourage MORE afk/DC.

I don't think solution 2 is viable. They have a surrender option for a reason and when you surrender I believe you lose less lp.

I have to say for me the biggest issue I have with someone not loading is in the early game and I have to wait till 20 minutes to surrender. I think it would be good to implement a sliding time frame for early game that would allow your team to surrender sooner. Something along the lines if the person is not connected for 6-8 of the last 10 minutes the game offers up the ability for your team to surrender. It may prevent bullying by the time frames, doesn't make sense to bully someone into leaving 10 minutes in the game if it'll be another eight minutes before you can get an early surrender while allowing teams that have someone not connect in the beginning of a match the option to get it over with and not waste 20 minutes.

Your solutions are so one-sided, for your first solution, when a person leaves purposely, yeah sure, maybe its reasonable. Where as being randomly disconnected cannot be helped. Why should one be further punished for something out of their control, especially if they're probably already upset about the DC themselves in the first place.

Second of all, your second reason is ridiculously unreasonable. People play ranked to increase their ratings on the ladder, not to have their time wasted by gaining 0 LP if ONE person just afks. If the game ends, it means everything previously done in that game was a waste, this would damage the environment more then benefiting it.

Furthermore both solutions can exploited by someone duo-ing with another in a division 5, not looking for increase in their ladder. They can simply leave the losing games, and help their duo partner avoid losing LP everytime. As well as some people purposely leaving a game when winning, to avoid their team from gaining LP.
