Did you check who you were playing against? 5-5 isn't all that good, and if you went 5-5 vs low silver, high bronze teams then the system placed you exactly where you should be (according to your win rate in the 10 games).

Also, the point of the reset is that you do have to work back up; you shouldn't start this season where you left last season off.

Finally, this is just me guessing, but I think that since all of the leagues are relative to the people playing in the region (ie diamond in korea would be compareable to masters in NA, etc), doing your promos earlier before the tiers have really been decided means everyone is more or less average compared to one another, meaning the vast majority of people will end up in Bronze/silver because this is where the majority of the people fall. So, the later you do your placement matches, the more well defined the mmr's for the various leagues, and that would make it more likely that you would get matched up vs people you should be. But thats just a guess.

I mean, literally everyone was knocked down by probably a division or more. Diamonds and above out back to plat, so everyobe is pushed back a bit.
