In the vast majority of the games we all hear comments like “that is so gay” etc as if being gay or homosexual is an offense. I don’t care if this is how you speak nowadays or whatever excuse you use, it is not cool at all. You might think it’s not a big deal since you really don’t mean anything bad by it, but to some like myself, it really is offensive. All the negativity and hatred we all have to deal with, just has to stop. I’m sure we all have to deal with it from time to time in any form, and I’m just as sure we’re all just as tired of it. We’d enjoy the game so much more if we all were a little bit more positive and encouraging so please just ditch all the offensive crap and start spreading the love instead.
Aaaand, now to why I actually decided to write this post in the first place. I just finished an Aram where I had to deal with a very toxic Ashe who decided to flame the butt out of me for not being a player to his/her standards and for being a girl RL. I was being called names I am sure would not be allowed anywhere near this forum so I won’t give any examples. I sent in a report, and I am sure other players did as well, but what happens now? Is this even being dealt with? This player laughed when we said we were reporting his abuse and it’s not the first time I get that reaction. Nobody seems to believe this matters, that they can say and do whatever they please but I still have hopes for the opposite.
Who stands up for me? Am I protected in any other way than with the mute-button?
PS. And for the record, I don’t tell I am gay, and I rareeeellyyy admit to being a girl even, although my name gives a hint I guess.
So, I am going to address a lot of stuff here.
First off, your post, title, everything, screams woe is me. The way your presenting it has you as some helpless victim that needs to be catered to. I see you asking people to just move past that. Well the issue, they can't because you wrote it that way. Why not make it less skewed?
Following this is the reference to reporting. You act as if you, again, deserve special treatment beyond the norm. "I reported them but what's next?" Well... If they're being assholes constantly and really aren't just having a really bad day, then they will get punished by tribunal. Simple as that.
If they are just having a bad day and this is a small incident within a wide span of games, they don't deserve punishment. Do you really want bans for ANYTIME ANYONE GETS UPSET AND RAGES! F$%# THOSE GUYS RIGHT?! No, that's basically you doing what they would be getting punished for.
Let's say they do this often and then they get punished. Is it that you want to know they got banned? Know how long? That's ridiculous. If you feel the need to see out their tribunal case this isn't about right and wrong, it's about you. You wanna see them pay for upsetting you. That's childish. I'm not saying that's what you meant, but that's what it comes off as.
Is it a matter of not trusting Riot? They said "here is how the report system works." It's simple and explained thoroughly. Honestly, there is no reason for them to not do it. It isn't like the tribunal is just made up for funzies. They are a sincere company making something for the enjoyment of everyone.
Here's another thing that you might not like. I realize it upsets you, but people that say phrases such as "that's so gay" are going to continue to do it. They don't say it to offend you, and it shouldn't offend you. Why shouldn't it? Because you are perfectly aware of what they mean by that. That's like me deciding you can't say guacamole anymore "because I find it offensive!" It's a word. Words literally have zero meaning unless we give it to them.
For example: Shit, Shithead, Flipping someone off
In Chinese the word for snow sounds like you're saying shit
In arabic Shi'thead is a normal name (im aware of pronunciation differences)
Flipping someone off now and flipping someone off originally, while both meaning the general "f%&$ you" had very different meanings behind them now it's generally offensive, but originally it was done by archers to show they still had their fingers (captured POW archers would have their fingers chopped off)
Also, you need to take a step back and think. This is because you are probably incredibly biased since the key things you see as a problem are directly related to/core aspects of your life (gay and female). The reason I say this is actually explained in a very "edgy" show, Drawn Together, where they create a character that is literally part of every group they tend to make fun of. Point being is that you just need take a step back, rethink, and repost a better worded thread.
Summary TL;DR: I dislike your post because you seem to be playing the victim too much and asking for special treatment. I think this thread should be remade after you've taken time to think of a better way to present your point.
