Removal of tier 1 and 2 runes.

Tier one and two runes should be removed from the game.

It is a waste of IP to buy them and the jump from one tier to the next can be daunting. I´m, as of posting this thread, level 16. When I reach level 20 I need at least 18 new small runes and 2 new quints. The good quints are 1000 IP, most of the useful small runes are 410. So when I hit level 20 I need more than 9000 IP per page I want to make. If you want to be optimal you should have 9 runepages, but I think it´s quite easy to get away with 3 or 4. But as far as level 20-29 goes, you´ll be fine with two. But even if I only want two I need to save up 18-25.000 IP!

So why is it a good idea to remove the tier one and two runes? Without them you can slowly build up both your rune pages while you level. If you hit level 20 without any runes you will be left behind in the dust.

Is it really ideal to punish people who don´t save up? The total amount of IP you spend on runes is almost the same. What you want is to apply enough pressure so that people buy some champions with RP, but the current system does not further the buying of champions any more than a system with only tier 3 runes.

Now the reason I assume the system is in place is to allow more balanced math making. The difference between a level 14 and a level 16 player is fairly low because of the weaker runes. But realistically with the rampant amount of smurfs, the difference of two tier 3 and two tier 2 runes is comparably small.

  • the angry pirate a level 16 player who cannot buy any further champions before he has saved up at least 9.000 IP.

Tier one runes are good- they costs something like 5-15 ip so are very cost efficient and a good way for low level players to get some additional power.

It is the tier 2 runes that are the trap.

You can use the lower level runes while you save up for the good ones. If you are a legit new player, you won't really be able to tell the difference.
