Matchmaking

A problem that has been happening to me and my teammates is that matchmaking places us against people of much MUCH higher MMR than us in normal games. Generally every game that I play I punch my username into one of the many in-game rank generators to see who I am playing against. Consistently, my team of myself (Silver 5), my Plat 5 friend, and 3 other Silvers are placed against 5 Plat players or higher. You can check my match history (Username is Tuna Unleashed) and see that every game I play we are consistently against a team with 300-400 higher MMR than us.

I understand that this is ranked MMR, so I was wondering if normal MMR is actually a factor here. When we play team builder we are often against people our ranks, and the games are noticeably easier. That being said I hardly ever play normal solo queue so I don't know really where I stand in terms of matchmaking. Maybe my friends have very high normal MMR (if that's a thing) or maybe we are consistently having bad luck, but it really is every game they have 400 MMR on us.
