Riot support on Linux client - "Hopefully in the near future" * r/leagueoflegends

Like I wrote in the reddit post below, I really really hope that a Linux client is **on ** Riot's to-do list! I think not having a Linux client is actually stopping alot of gamers from switching from Windows. And I'm really curious about what Riots plans/down the road thoughts on this are. Are you in a planning stage? Looking for more devs? Where are we?

From my reddit post:

We haven't heard any updates on Linux at this time! Hopefully in the near future we will though. I know the Linux player base is "small". But at the same time I don't think its as small as many think. Who here on /r/leagueoflegends would be interested in moving over to Linux if Riot released a Linux client? I've heard a lot of people saying that a League Client is the only thing missing before they throw their Windows installation out the window. Maybe a thread like this could at very least shine some light on a player base that is today "forced" to run League of Legends through other applications like Wine, which degrades performance and also makes the install process a lot harder than what it could be with a dedicated client. I know this will never be a top of the list prio for Riot, but I would like to hope that it at least gets on the list. I'm not gonna go on about the Windows vs Linux topicandhowmicrosoftcollectsalotofdataaboutyourcomputerusage, but I'm confident that there is more of us than Riot thinks there is. And I might also be completely wrong, but hey, thats why I am making this thread. So people with interest for a Linux League of Legends client can at least be heard.

Personally, I switched from Windows to Linux by way of dual-boot... and League is the only reason I still have the Windows partition at all. This means that to play League, I have to reboot my computer, which means in turn that I play a lot less League.

(I've tried setting it up in Wine, but so far I haven't found any instructions producing something other than error messages.)
