Flex queue placement bugged? bronze friend 2 wins got gold 4 and plat 5 friend got placed in bronze

Like the title says my friend that is in bronze 3 won 2 of his placement games for flex, and got placed in gold 4. My friend that is plat 5 won 6 of his and got placed in bronze 4. Is there some kind of a bug with the flex ranked placements or what? Because I am soooo confused at this haha. Anyone else seen some weird placement like this?
