Remove summoner name cleanup please riot
We don't need this anymore.
We don't need this anymore.
Why don't we need it? Some people say the duration for name protection should be even less.
Cause let's say you died or something then the summoner name cleanup will kick in and someone else will be using your name.
Is death the only event which you believe they should lock your name?
Yes.
Honestly, I don't see it as a good reason to remove the cleanup entirely, as it does a whole lot of harm and helps almost nobody. The cleanup is there so people aren't hogging names (to a certain extent), and only a tiny fraction of a percent of players would get any use out of this. To make this not do that harm you'd need people to not only have someone that knew to submit a death certificate to Riot (and actually care to do so), the player would also need to already have proof of who he is on record with his account(s).
For the general populace, it's too farfetched to consider. Now if we are talking a popular streamer or a pro, it would be common knowledge what his accounts are (unless they are hiding them well) and that he died, and Riot could simply lock those names not because they died, but could have a rule that popular names like that could never be stolen regardless of whether or not the original died.

Pretty unfair that that person named "Taliyah Bot" on euw, level 23 can play one game every year or so and not lose the right to use the name.
Yes I agree, though this post is arguing that they wouldn't ever have to play at all to reserve the name forever.
Well this would be just stupid.
Imagine someone called R2D2 which might be a fairly popular name stops playing and will never come back. Would be pretty lame if noone is ever going to be able to use that name again.
what is that exactly? if it's the "no inappropriate names" thing, then I think we still need it.
