As far as I know AUTOFILL was created to reduce queue times. From my point of view it has only done 2 things, increase queue times and create more trolls that ruin games.

I dont understand why they put autofill in lower elos? my Q times are like 2min max.Once ,i was autofilled after 20s...Wtf?
Knowing riot we will have to wait till next year for them to finally fix the game. Ever since they included the new champ select matchmaking has been extremely fucked and so has autofill and everything to do with it. But riot had an autistic kid so they love it all the same anyways! Riot just care about money why would they help the players lul.
Yes, autofill reduces the queue time that was increased by allowing people to chose their role.
It's a small price to pay compared to the old days of "mid or feed" "Nah, I'm first pick" "GG noob mid cant mid afk"
It sucks because the amount of games ruined by auto fillers, but it's good because you don't have the pick order squabbles. It's a good compromise between pick order and season 6 dynamic queue
