replace afk players.

ok so when a player goes afk or DCs they should be replaced by another player that's waiting in queue, but the player in queue can choose to enter the already started game or wait in queue for a fresh game. i think this would solve a whole lot of issues with this game. for one not as many people would get mad over an afk player, games would be a lot more balanced, and people like me that have to go do something in the middle of the game wont be suspended by the agitated players. also you start at a moderate level with everyone else and a fair amount of gold.

Seems like a good idea.

Another idea that came to mind is maybe replacing the player with a bot? This would take some work considering the bot difficulty would have to be set accordingly since beginner or intermediate wont cut it as a replacement. But just a thought

Here's my question: would the new player enter AS the player that went AFK (ex: if a yi player went afk, would the new player enter as yi or a different champ). also: would they enter at level 1, or would they come in as the same level/stats/items as the guy who went afk?

I like this idea. here is the problem with that. League is based a stats via, Masteries, Runes, and finally champsions based stats. I know this idea is a few ways off. But the problem is that once a champ is locked they take your current masteries and runes to calculate them allow proper scaling through out the game. When you change in the middle of a game you effect these present vaules. Now I'll love it if League will pause a game or have the player of the same role you where to go (afk with no penalty untill the end of the match. that way the existing members can keep the game going. Or just have league to encourage this kind of sportsmanship and have them just have them not to engage the short man team.

I like this idea! Like others have said, it would be tricky and need some work but no auto-fail games because someone went afk? Awesome!

When reading about the masteries/runes/items issue, a couple of ideas popped into my head. What if the new player spawned as the same champion but they:

a) when accepting to be an afk fill, they are shown the other champions on their and the enemy team so as to choose an appropriate build

b) started the game off with a gold pool as where the original player left off. i.e. Master Yi had accrued 4k gold. AFK fill has 4k gold when they jump in.

c) they would take on the score and experience of the former player. It would kinda suck to jump into a 0/5/0 game though but part of the risk of a shorter queue?

d) could choose from a list of games (with no information about how long the game has gone on and such) and which champions they could play. I may own LeBlanc but if I queued and had to play her, I probably wouldn't help my team any more than the AFKer ;)

Also, I'm not sure if this would give the player jumping in an unfair advantage. Let's take our Yi. AFKer had accrued 4k gold. Say he bought Boots of Mobility (1000g) and a Wriggle's (2000g) and spent the rest in wards and pots. The AFK fill could come in and buy I.E. (3800g) off the hop. That would be a huge damage spike. Iunno. Just some ideas!

I don't know.. I have always thought it would be better to decrease the surrender timer for afk's. Say purple team has an afk, then they can surrender at 10 mins or 15mins, cut exp/ip to 1/100th and then move on. 20 minutes is a long time to waste waiting to loose.
