It is not Riot's fault. It is ours.

Riot is a company comprised of humans, just like us. No human is perfect. And Riot is bound to make mistakes, but we can't blame them. When's the last time you made one of the most popular MMOs for over 3 years and didn't make any mistakes?

We are so diluted and argumentative that we just blame everything on Riot. When in reality, all of the complaints we have are just our delusions and false exceptions to the fact that we cause all of the problems that we complain about.

While Riot should take responsibility for server, ping, and lag issues on their end, all of the toxicity and arguing is completely our doing. When people complain and say things like "fix tribunal" or "stop trolling", neither Riot or us as the players would have to deal with that if people just stopped being jerks.

Stop blaming everything on Riot. Deep down, you know whatever it is, it's your fault. Get off of Riot's case.

EDIT: I understand that I sound like a jerk. I don't intend to sound confrontational, or anything of the like. I just want to get my point across, and I hope you understand that.

"Most popular MMOs". You mean MOBA, naturally.

I'm going to tell you some straight-up shit that is 100% more correct than this Colin Moriarty "Gamer Entitlement" horseshit.

The people who pay money for shop items, and those who simply play the game and generate secondary sources of revenue for Riot, are consumers. Riot is the company that provides the product for the consumers. Consumers have a right to get what they expect, and can choose to stop paying the company when they aren't performing adequately. The onus is 100% on Riot if Riot fucks up. In a capitalist country, this is the solid reality of the situation.

I get that a ton of little babies hate seeing people complain and argue against problems, and want people to just shut up and accept them. This is a mindset fueled by complacency and complicity. This kind of behaviour is why votes for women were opposed in the 1920s. This is why slavery took so long to abolish. The people who want something, which they entirely deserve as I outlined above, MUST continue to make noise, or they simply DO NOT EXIST.

Oh, and toxicity on the community's part could have been dealt with far more eloquently than by merely hoping for rehabilitation. Tribunal is very much Riot's business. The community's state is not every person in the community's fault. It's the little shitstains that make games unfun with cunt-like behaviour. Riot could be much more heavy-handed, but wants money and some miserable plea for their salvation.

Thanks.

I am not a jerk (95% of the time, usually that 5% is being a jerk to a jerk).

I don't think that I'm really part of the problem.

And as the governing authority, Riot has some responsibility to make sure that trolls are taken care of.

Riot's half the wrong when they listened and "fixed" something they knew it was right to begin with, or refuse to fix something when everyone, including Riot, knows it's not.

They should still take some of the blame.

Also some issues were completely Riot's, like server crashing, client bugs etc.

It's our fault that Riot only cares about one map right now while every other map is rotting.

It's our fault that riot wants to make champsZac that are too complex to work on to make any skins for.

It's our fault that ranked is complete bullshit right now.

It's our fault that, I get that one guy on my team who wants to feed then DC and I lose full LP for that.

It's our fault that riot used to be so awesome and giving(x2 IP weekend) back in the day and now we're lucky if they give us a 1 game IP boost every other year.

It's OUR fault that the IP system SUCKS. Making everyone have to literally grind for weeks for ONE champion which are now 7800 for one week. Wonderful.

It's out fault that the runes system makes ^ even MORE frustrating.

It's also our fault when there were so much negative community backlash about some of the changes that they implemented, and yet they still go through with it without a second thought.

I understand that yes, they are humans, but there are a shit load of stuff they can do tons better but decide to follow the greedy money hungry route.

I'm a consumer. If the product I've spent over 2,000 on over the years isn't providing entertainment.

I'm gonna bitch And you're gonna like it and accept my opinion for what it is. A consumers opinion. I put the roof over riots head. I put the food on their plates. We as the consumers put the food on their plates for their families. They seem to forget that when they say things like they're not gonna listen to the public for lore or etc...

Atm i bitch about the exp in the jungle being so shit I'm switching to other roles and making jungle my secondary/third role played because of it.

for ranked games I'm typing Top/mid pref and can jungle too because the role is unenjoyable. I liked being able to keep on par level with my solo lanes when I was having a good game and carrying hard I felt like I was a part of the team and an important factor in wins. Now I'm underleveled and feel worthless outside being a smite bot for dragon/baron or ult bot for lanes. Boring.

Yes and no.

Yes, people are flawed, there are bad people in the League community, and it's perfectly reasonable for Riot to make mistakes now and then.

That said... the amount of junk that Riot pulls (especially compared to most other respected game companies around) is preposterous. They don't listen to their community, they leave game-breaking bugs in the game for years at a time, they have very questionable balancing practices (rito logic plz)... the matchmaking, the pathfinding, the -shudder- ranked system. Doing nothing about people unfairly losing LP for games ruined by afk/dc/troll/bugs/matchmaking/etc. The promises forgotten, the problems ignored, the noob-traps left in.

Yes, the community should solve their own shortcomings too, learn to play better, and stop yelling at each other... but there's a lot that is Riot's fault.

It's Cause Taunts,Jokes, Dance, and Laugh are a thing Riot put into the game, it just leads to BM no matter what

Scrimshäw3/28/2015, 7:48:35 PM2 votes

toxicity is riot's fault, they run league like a concentration camp, and anyone who says anything negative gets banned.

people can't let out their fucking feelings of anger, so they bottle it up and explode in one instance

Sarutobi3/28/2015, 11:49:29 AM2 votes

While it hasn't happen to me, you are saying that the people who get there client to crap out on them isn't from Riot severely outdated servers that are in need of updating in all shapes and forms. Don't get me wrong i don't think this happens to a lot of people but its a problem most people cannot help unless Riot themselves does something about it!

Dangerous Man3/29/2015, 7:28:05 PM1 votes

But my internet says it's at 100% but I keep disconnecting from League. Never lose connection on other games though.

blaming others for ones own fault is something that even Humanity struggles with. Long before our time our kind have stuggled with these vary acts.

Stop posting things that everyone agree's about, it's just annoying and i'm not sure why people post things like this. What's next? a post about how "it's not riot's fault you are in bronze" post? -.-

MMO? wat

DeloricVI3/28/2015, 9:25:36 PM1 votes

No, don't be sorry for being confrontational. This community needs some tough love if it's going to get any better. Being nice to a toxic person doesn't make them any less toxic, so perhaps this kind of thing is what they need.

You know what, I've had my episodes. Not in game. God no. I would never subject my team to that hate that can well up inside someone while playing a game like League. Mobas do have a couple inherent things that can often cause people to become toxic; it's part of the game, and it's not the developer's fault. But when it broke loose in me after getting knocked from bronze 1 to bronze 5, straight down, I was mad. I wrote a thread about how I felt on the matter, talking about how I felt like I was alone when my team feeds, like I was playing 1v10. And you know what? People gave me things that I hear constantly, causing me to complain more. The people in that thread? They never played a game with me. And they assumed that I'm toxic all the time. Never had a successful case against me, because I don't get toxic in game, and I report toxicity when I see it. It's hard to know who to blame for their assumption; me for losing my cool, them for making assumptions, or the community who caused those assumptions to be made in the first place.

And then you have another whole class of people that complain when their main gets nerfed, despite the fact that they can take pretty much any matchup in their lane and destroy them in Bronze. Because all Katarina is good for is pub stomping Bronzies, right? Because playing against Katarina doesn't make the game any less fun for players that you stomp, does it? Perfect example, a lot of people were mad when Jinx's zap and pow-pow got nerfed. Zap had a slow that was on par with Thresh's box, and pow-pow used to give more attack speed. A lot more. You know that when they fixed these problems and she wasn't any idiot's one-way ticket to guaranteed victory, some people complained. Even clearly broken champs like Rek'Sai. Her base damage was absolutely insane. I don't know how she made it out of testing without people saying, "You know, I like it, but don't you think she does a little more damage than most other champions?" But I know some entitled players that started moaning about how she's no longer viable, she'll never see professional play, Riot are making a big mistake, and how that's their problem with game balance that they nerf anything that that person likes to play. Half the time it's because that person is just bad at league, and needs an op champion as a crutch to get out of bronze. Disgusting.

But look at me getting all toxic about toxicity. How ironic.

Loken Stoneheart3/28/2015, 10:17:35 PM1 votes

Problem is, its not me personally that causes the problems, at least in my games. I can be pretty obnoxious on the forums, I'll admit.

Its a humanity thing. And humanity is always looking for ways to make awful people less awful, because awful people won't stop being awful by themselves.

H0riz0n2343/29/2015, 12:29:00 AM1 votes

Its some players fault not everyones so dont blame everyone. And the reason we go to riot about these problems is because they own the game and can make changes to improve it(Yes most people are just pissed off people who dont know what they are saying but some people deserve a response) Yeah I dont expect them to be perfect but when I see someone from riot comment on a skin art or animation but not on ideas on leave buster and ranking system It really shows which is more important to them. And if they cant handle it cant they hire more people or something I mean they are the most popular MOBA game and make millions every month Im sure they could do something about it.

Wrong, League has been out what 5 years? And still hasn't fixed any of it's flaws. Dota has been out less time and fixed almost all of them
