League of Legends is a perfect example of what's wrong with this world

Let's pretend that I am a human being who has been around a lot of death and destruction for most of my life assuming that I was prior military and still work over seas 90% of the year in places that most others in this world would never go to. I mean it is the internet right, no one would actually think I would ever do such a thing, so thus; we are pretending.

Being a player since season 2 when this game was a lot more mellowed down and fun I enjoyed this, but over the years I am disgusted and ready to call it quits.

Any of you reading this that have a shred of maturity in your bodies please take this to heart. Each and every single person playing this game is a human being . We all have brains we all have thoughts and we all have hearts. I don't understand why it has come down to the point where people are giving each other death threats over a video game and saying things to one another that are so obscene that it should be illegal. I mean I get it, you're hiding behind a computer with your 12 inch internet dicks out, but for the love of God, if you come onto this game to insult, degrade and belittle people while saying things like "I wish you were dead" (that being one of the smaller brutal insults I have seen) all the way up to some really fucked up shit then you have problems.

This game used to be fun to waste some time on during the nights but game after game all I see are monsters that don't even resemble human beings anymore. Do me a favor, if you are reading this and the next time you feel the need to verbally unload on someone why don't you think twice and maybe just take a chill pill. Were all human, chances are you are not a professional video game player and let's be realistic you probably won't ever be one. So take into mind the things you say to people and grow the fuck up.

God forbid I can't wait to see the comments, try and show a once of maturity.

I wouldn't pinpoint League as an example of what's wrong with this world. It's part of a greater thing: the Internet. Which, if you think about it, is probably a fair representation of the majority of the world.

You ask maturity from everyone. Sorry to spoil it for you but that's not how humanity works.

ThePartyLeader12/25/2016, 3:35:45 PM8 votes

To be fair perspective is important. Here is a couple quick thoughts.

Standing in line at a coffee shop in New York one might see and hear some terrible things. Could assume that all coffee drinkers are impatient ill mannered ass hats. Just don't forget though there could be 10 best friend's in the corner drinking coffee that would do anything for each other and volunteer a night a week at the local soup kitchen.

We as humans often control our own reality and often forget that and don't stretch and train our optimism muscles leaving it to wither, as our pessimism becomes a world record weight lifter.

League is just like life. Surround yourself with positive people that push you to be a better person and make sure you return that favor to them. Then use that to face the challenges and Negativity that is all around.

yeah, some people play and have fun, others struggle, starve and die, third ones, like you, go overseas to drop bombs on the heads of the second ones and to shoot them like dogs, all that for a good salary and benefits, with returning to a perfect safety afterwards... our world is just like this

Nice rose tinted goggles.

Season 2 had some of the most vitriolic people ever.

The internet was fine when it was just us early adopters. Now you have kids that grew up with that anonymous animosity. With modern parenting and too young to frequent a pub. They are completely separated from the thought that if you talk like you want a punch to the face, you might get one.

This, all of this. I don't care to be one but this is the point I try to make.

I'm going to admit I'm a little bit toxic as much as I try to not be. However, being bad at a video game? I'm not going to tell you to kill yourself or drink bleach because honestly that's just dumb in itself. Video games are meant to be enjoyed, if you do bad not much I can do about that, is there? I think the most I've ever done is called people idiots for doing something that I knew was a dumb idea and then they're like "hurr, support left us to die." ...if I have no mana and I ping you back and you refuse to listen, I cannot be held responsible.

Anyway, going off-topic, but point is that it's a game and I try my hardest to not say anything and be nice. I make mistakes, you make mistakes, it's only natural. Treat others the way you want to be treated which means I'll be nice to you. Moment you throw a punch I am going to hit back then ignore you.

Anonymity means you see the worst of everyone. That being the case, I try to keep one identity online which is Jetra. Wish I could have it here, but when I created my account, I couldn't have my account name same as my Summoner Name and for the longest time was Jetrim. Point is, I am me, I'm not going to try and hide behind the screen as long as you're willing to do the same.

Also late, sleep deprived, not sure if message is clear yet now I sleep. Happy Holidays to all -passes out-

this is a videogame, and guess what, probably 70% of the players are 17 or below, if you want to take seriously a teenager that flames you in a videogame ONCE, because you will never be queue with him again, and even if it happens, there is a high % that he will not flame you, because you met in another circumstance, the i feel bad for you.

you ask for "maturity" in a videogame with an average of 15/16 years old playerbase, isnt that a paradox?

Because humans are flawed beings. It's a law of the world that cannot be changed.

I mean, if you're an adult, you just have to kind of realize that there's going to be some obnoxious, spoiled children playing the game. Just mute them and move on. You don't HAVE to take every mean thing some idiot child tells you on the internet to heart. What's the old saying? Consider the source?

When the source is a bedwetting fourteen year old, why even bother getting angry or hurt? They're just words--words Riot gave you the ability to not have to listen to, if you don't want to.

Okay lets give you a little psychology lesson as to why the internet people are like this.

Whenever you deal with other human beings or animals, you generally have the empathic region of your braim go off when you interact with them. The amount it goes off increases with exposure to other things.

Buut, with the internet, that region of the brain simply does not go off at all when dealing with others online. Thats it, its not because they are immature millenials who got pampered, its because their brain is literally telling them/acting as if the people online, are not actual living people. Understand? (Note this was in laymens terms)

Sounds like you've eaten maybe a little too much solo queue salad, it's full of nastiness and angsty 12 year old's without any understanding of maturity and acting like an actual human. You shouldn't god forbid the comments haha, most people on the boards are league enthusiasts above the age of 18 man. Trust me man, it's best just to queue with friends of find a discord, maybe even of a youtuber and queue with more mature people over there. The league community isn't quite as terrible as you say, trust me, unless you're in blind pick, that queue is fucked up. http://images-cdn.9gag.com/photo/aW6qY5A_700b.jpg It's very hard not to have fun with 5 people you queued up with on discord. And that's why other than in ranked i never solo queue, and never ever go into blind picks man, hell, i know a league of legends discord page around which doesn't accept anyone below 17 years old. If you want the name you can message me. I've found normal draft to be a much more mature and fun queue than ranked solo or blind pick. Best just to look for teammates and play with friends if you don't want to indulge in the choose your own adventure: /mute all or watch a shitshow environment of blind solo queue.

P.S Have a merry Christmas man

God forbid you use the mute feature or go into normals. People like you go into ranked trying to be 'mellow' and ruin the game for 4 other people. God forbid you have consideration for the other people spending 30 minutes minimum of their insignificant lives on this game. Unlike you, some people would like to see where they rank among the world regardless of being professional gamers or not. I like how your initial sentence of you being in the military makes you think you hold precedence over every other human being on the internet. However, thank you for service. But if you're gonna be butthurt over nerds getting mad use the mute feature or go into the non ranked modes.

It sucks though when you need to ask someone to do something and they automatically assume you're flaming. Get a Karma in bot lane, keeps going for trades, she's an aggressive support, I get it. But we're losing the trades, because she isn't using her shield. Not on me. Not at all. Someone with Windspeakers should really know better but w/e, so I say hey buddy, if you don't start shielding me in these trades we're gonna have a bad game. Suddenly my support is super defensive and flaming every time I miss a cs. Like wtf bro I just need you to shield me...

Welcome to the Internet, kiddo, if you're allergic to people saying things or you think humans are worth anything, you can go back overseas where humans actually follow up on their threats and do proper disgusting shit to each other and animals. Aren't you supposed to gain perspective when you travel?

Weathered12/25/2016, 6:39:48 PM1 votes

A large reason why people don't act like that (A) is because they know there will be consequences (B), often times people just simply don't have the morals to restrain themselves. They have to think of all the aspects to get to their satisfaction of letting out their anger (C).

So when you introduce a setting where you have a pretty much guaranteed protection of real world consequences (so not including bans and such) people only see A = C rather than A - B = C.

HazyCloud712/25/2016, 10:53:20 PM1 votes

A lot of this is a product of riot being too lenient, you have to be exceptionally toxic to actually get banned and reports feel totally useless for the most part. I've seen the "a report led to discipline" pop up maybe twice. Hell even some pro players intentionally feed and flame in ranked, maybe when riot gets serious about enforcing their roles this game will be a friendlier place.

My advice would just be to find people you enjoy playing with and play with them.

Gotta be dumb to come cry on boards. If youre having issues go to a shrink not lol boards.

WeedTits12/25/2016, 7:08:17 AM1 votes

As I always say, if you wanna play league, play league. If you want to type bullshit, threats and nonsense back and forth, go to Reddit. It's enough that we can't have voice comms because Riot is afraid of what people will say, we're approaching a point where chat will just be removed from the game. Then you'd STILL get people ping spamming the question mark.
