What happened?

Can anybody fill me in on everything that happened in LoL in the past 4 months, including why the forums now look like reddit, new champs/items, new gamemodes, etc.?

Forums switched from the vBulletin platform to these Boards, the switch was rushed and forces though so some people will be a bit salty about that as a forewarning. vBulletin was, as was explained, very limited in its scalability and tool-creation. To the point where Riot concluded it was easier to build their own platform (Boards) instead of deconstructing and rebuilding the vBulletin code. Technically this platform is still in beta and some Rioters actually prefer to post on r/leagueoflegends, so take that as you will.

ARAM now has the mark/dash spell from Legend of the Poro King as default. The effective Lee Sin Q clone one. summoner 32

Chroma Packs are a thing right now. Buy a pack of three if you own the skin it's for and you're able to customize the color palettes that are given. There's some community salt about their pricing but they were just released and are open to changes later on.

Champion Mastery was announced as an up and coming feature. tl;dr levels based on skill and amount of games played on a particular champion. Specifics are explained in the link.

#Items

item 3751 Bami's Cinder, a.k.a. baby sunfire. Replaces the giant's belt portion of sunfire and is a component in the replacement for the tank jungle item. Key note: the damage ramps up as you enter combat instead of remaining a flat number, althoug that may change in the future with current changes on the PBE. (I think this was within the last 4 months? College can be a timewarp sometimes.)

item 3071 Got reworked very recently. Replaced brutalizer with phage and added in more health. More CDR, no more flat armor pen, more armor shred from the passive (one more stack to stack on top) and keeps phage speed passive as well.

item 1043 Has an on hit effect that deals 10 physical damage. Now builds out of two daggers and is a bridge component for any item that previously built out of two daggers like Botrk, Hurricane and Wit's End. The physical damage passive does not carry over to the magic on-hit items.

item 3363 Now drops a one-health, temporary ward where it's placed. ADC's have taken to getting it later game so they don't have to get as close to bushes. Provided their team wards enough to make up for one less green ward of course.

#Champions

Bard Only champion out in 2015 right now. Extreme utility, super low damage support. Can create one-way tunnels through terrain, can roam effectively as his passive has him collect tiny stat boosts from around the map (imagine if Thresh's passive randomly dropped souls across the map, kinda like that). Can drop healing shrine placeables and his ultimate is literally an AoE Zhonyas that can hit enemies AND allies.

Zilean Got reworked. Q is no longer point and click, but is now lobbed like Corki Q. Can be droped on an enemy's head or stays on the ground and can be 'picked up' if an enemy walks too close. Ticks down the entire time like before, but now if you get hit by a bomb's blast while having another bomb on you you'll get stunned for a respectably long period of time.

Mentions of a possible champion called "Ekko" through a little bit of data mining and leaks. So we may getting another one very soon.
