Why you suck - A guide to winning strategically

So many players in platinum and gold are decent tactically (many are not) but fail completely at strategically winning (there are also alot of players using BoL studio... hmmm correlation?). Odds of winning in these brackets can be calculated with a good degree of success on champ select or better ( i would say 90% of games are won or loss on champ select) just based on player champ selections.

How do you win? A good balanced meta:

  • Front Line Champs - The concept of a tank is a dated season1 meta concept. Now champs that build melee dps (J4, irelia, any top lane) or straight up dmg soak champs (mummy, alistar, rammus, etc.)
  • Crowd Control - AoE crowd control or multiple ability Cc... ala thresh, Morgana, Zyra, etc.
  • ADC - This champs job is to take turrets and to do Poke Dmg late game.
  • Assassin - typically your mid lane... someone who bursts.
  • Jungle - high lane presence and fast clears or go home. I hate Feral Flare (even though i use it =) because you get feral farmers.
  • Top Lane - so many people fail at picking a proper top lane. Top lane SHOULD NEVER EXPECT ganks and should have enough sustain to prevent tower pushing / farming. Also, top lane is a counter pick lane... dont first pick a top or even mid lane unless you've got big balls.

What else?

  • Dragon - Fuck you riot for making this objective too strong. Statistically the first dragon now determines the game. The XP received gives levels and levels means uncontrollable dmg.
  • Baron - When a team has an average player level of 14 its time to start thinking about baron. One player dead (particularly Jungler)... baron. One person showing bot w/o teleport... free baron. "Safety warding" around baron aids in success of taking baron.
  • Known your meta - If you have a split pushing champ like Trynd or Nassus, play your meta.
