What should I buy to play league (and other games)?

So, I have the really crappy router and modem in one that I rent from my internet provider. I'm thinking of buying a modem and router myself so that 1) I don't have to pay the monthly rental fee and 2) I can have better internet connection. I went to Best Buy today and found modems that guaranteed 16x, 8x, and 4x faster internet speed. I also found basic, duel, and AC routers. I am not sure which ones to purchase because the guys at Best Buy keep pushing me to get the really expensive ones... and I'm not sure if they are the best for me.

There are currently two people playing internet at my place: my boyfriend and I. We also use the internet for my phone and his playstation. We sometimes download movies the same time we play games and also use Skype occasionally with our friends. As you can see, a lot of stuff is going on at the same time. We upgraded our internet to the Extreme package, which is 2x faster than the standard one. I'm just so tired of my low fps, slow connection speed when I stream movies/shows, randomly dropping from games, and lag...

Advice? Thank you in advance.

In my experience, it's best to get the top-tier equipment since this is something you use daily. That should allow you to do everything you need, and allow for scaling as your connection needs increase.

I'm not sure that your connection has much to do with your fps. My understanding is that your GPU and RAM determine your frame rate.

You need to pick your internet package and go from there. Most internet companies require modems that have certain features/conform to certain specs, and you should be able to find out what those specs are.

Unless you currently live in a city with gigabit internet, you don't need an AC router. I don't remember what the next step down is right off, but it's probably closer to what you'll want.

If you are experiencing fps drop and your pc is acting slow, the problema is not the internet speed intself, the problema lies within your pc and you should upgrade it with newer tech such as a new graph card, more RAM, new processor, and so on.

The internet only affects download/upload speeds of packages wich is not a major issue but if your pc is a crap you will experience loss of packages wich result on the terrifing "Attemping to Reconect", slow connections and the mythology lagg.
